Buying a new tv

I’m getting a new tv for my birthday at the end of this month, probably a 25 or 27 inch, I don’t need or can afford anything bigger, I know I want a HD with 720, once again price, but I don’t know what else to get, like LCD or LED etc, I need some help.

I have a 42" Philips I got a Walmart for about 800 bucks. Its been great.
