Buying a new TV.... Need help (Plasma vs. LCD vs. DLP)

It is widely known that Plasma’s are better for fast moving pictures than LCD…

I dont get what is being debated.

Plasma’s motion lag/delay is less than LCD in almost every case.

Plasma’s should always be better for fighting games…

Just want to say that playing MAME on my Sammy A650 LCD has slight input lag over HDMI. PS3 games play fine on it (haven’t tried a ps3 fighting game). Haven’t tried my PS2 on it either. I did try using game mode but it didn’t help with MAME.

I see. *Pixel *response times are not the same as input lag which is what I thought you were talking about in the first place. I am just talking about input lag. Sorry for any confusion caused.

@ Thor. I have the same set. I am curious if you’ve tried using a VGA cable and if that may be better than the “game mode” for input lag. These tests indicate VGA to be superior for input lag. I have also read that HDMI2 labled “PC” will get the same results as VGA and that is what I use for fighting games. Try em out and let me know what your experiances are.

thanks for the knowledge guys. A little friendly debate is good as long as we(I) learn something!

+1 to VGA. I have a 2007 Samsung DLP, and MVC2 is perfectly playable in Game Mode after going VGA. Also, I have no discernable lag playing 360 over HDMI at native res (1080p).

I guess it would be best to ask a question I’ve been curious about for awhile.I was wondering what are considered to be the better LCDs from the 19-24 inch range.I know they lack features of the larger sets but are there any that would typically work well for gaming(fighters in particular). If all of them are crap do VGA boxes really solve the input lag problems?

The reason I’m starting off small is because I only want to use it until I get my own place and then go for something in the 40ish inch range.
