Yeah. I’m waiting on the maps as well.

But me and some folks I play with are renting a server for the next six months. Just set it up for versus the other night (vanilla, for now, though we may increase the hunter slashes back up to 8, and fire damage back up to at least 1.5), and so far everyone’s rates and pings have been really solid, and no crashes. I’ll throw up the IP is anyone wants to make use of it. We’re never on it during the day. And it’s east coast.

Amordien:

Funny thing is it all worked for me. No pink at all. I wonder if it’s an issue with the map itself or some nonsense with particular cards. A lot of people are experiencing the same issues with custom maps. I have purple splotches all over TF2 Dustbowl, but others don’t.

The pink textures can come from tabbing out while the game is running. It’s happened to me on every source-engine based game. Usually just tabbing out and in again solves it.

I will be back to playing this in a few days, projects have been kicking my ass. In the meantime, if anyone is even remotely interested in custom maps, Death Knell is a must. I have ton of screens I took from playing with Amordien a bit back, I’ll put some of them up when I have the time.

Yeah, Versus is all I play. I haven’t played Campaign since the first couple days after release. And now if I hop in I play too impatiently and make everyone wipe.

Just vanilla settings right now. If you see Bear, Monkeysoup, Birdsguts, Phalex or Legend on there, we all have admin. There’s no reason to use it, but we can if need be. We’re never on before 11pm EST, though, so during the day feel free to use the server. Should run solid if you’re east coast.

That’s been around for a bit. You can push it with a vote. They’re trash, unfortunately. Way too easy for survivors. The are no climb points for infected, among other balancing issues, so you have to pre-spawn to get on roofs and such. They’re be great once they’re retooled for versus, but as of now they’re not very interesting.

Break down of how Survival Mode works:

Given the extreme pace of Survival Mode, the number of zombies killed in a single round often outnumbers an entire campaign. Even optimizing towards using pistols to eliminate common hordes, ammunition usually becomes an issue at some point. As ammo piles provide a unique infinite resupply for players, they tend to be in relatively less defensible positions in the Survival arenas. This means making an all important ammo run is rarely a safe proposition and requires good teamwork and planning. Timing your resources correctly to be able to make a run when necessary can make or break a team. The perfect pipebomb or well placed molotov can mean the difference between a cakewalk and catastrophe

Haha, I haven’t been playing often but the few times I have with Amordien has kept me relatively on top of my game. Shit is probably going to be a disaster though the first few times around.

They said for PC it’s going to be free. That’s one reason I love Valve, though it’s a double-edge sword sometimes. It’s cool that they believe DLC should always be free, but because of their adamant stance on it, they refuse to release DLC for certain games not made by them, notably Fallout 3 and Mirror’s Edge.

One thing though, is it only me or are the servers extremely laggy? Every game I play, I can have a constant ping of < 100 and I always seem to be teleporting.

They NEED to release the beta maps. How the fuck did the beta wind up blowing away the final product? That makes no damn sense. The skins are better, the deaths are better. Shit, the STAGES look better.

I love the game. I’ve been waiting for a co-op Zombie FPS my entire life. Hell, I’ll probably be the Chessmaster Hex of L4D, playing long after others have dropped off…but still. Seeing that shit makes me sad.
