Good shit in this thread. Dormammu is definitely and undercover beast. I’ve been in the lab working messing around with Catastrophe shenanigans. Can juggle pretty much clear up to the top of the screen. While it may not be the most damaging thing you can do, it will definitely frustrate the hell out of your opponent keeping them up in the air for so long. All the time in the world to power up hands for the next plan of action too.

I’ve never been much of a combo fiend. I play more of a mental game. It seems to me that Dormammu can do it all.

Yea his most effective trijump might be more of a box jump with j.fwd dashing then S… and is overhead cept on like v.joe and such. On smaller peeps either j.dash dwn+fwd+L… or delay your dash dwn fwd slightly and use S. Believe it or not the latter is actually a tad better in spite of the delay… b/c it crosses up pretty well.

so out of curiousity, how are you guys generally using the creator/destructor spells? Not actually dropping them on people, but charging up. Obviously, full screen away or after a f+H I’ll charge one or two levels. I sometimes get sloppy and go for that third charge, and usually end up paying for it.

Any particular ones you go for over the others (I find the 1C1D one is great for AA)?

I’ve been going about the same way. Any time I find some breathing room. After a super, during a stalker flare, after a k.o. I also like to grab one when the other guy seems hesistant since it also manages to draw a reaction I can punish. I tend to go for 2C1D for the screen covering anti air. If it hits you get a chaotic flame. I do liKe 3C though because people don’t know what it does yet and they freeze up.

I cover my D/C charges with assists. Amaterasu’s Cold Star, to be exact. Either that or I throw out Flame Carpet and have Trish Peekaboo assist then I charge. I run Dorm (Liberation), Amaterasu (Cold Star), Trish (Peekaboo).

If I don’t have assists, I try to do it whenever I have some space.

As of now, I only really use 0C2D or 0C3D for keep-away purposes, and 2C1D for Liberation assist. It’s almost like a super Doom Missiles.

Is his cr.:m: pool flame chain character specific? As in like linking it more than once.

How and when do you guys like to use his QCB and 2atk sim like hyper? The start up is horrible and it seems like a risk every time i start it up. After someone dies? I like to use it mainly for defense to set up traps. What do you guys like?

Also like mentioned on the SRK guide for him using 1 then X factoring then activating another one is awesome. Lets him really set up his shenanigans and gives him time.

Also while im here…assists that you like for him? I’m having trouble deciding if i want more range on the assist to help him w even more zoning or a GTFO me close range good assist.

Usually I do it for chipping purposes like from full screen or if they super jump then I just teleport and hope they get confused, It’s a good super from far away cause it doesnt disappear until it gets all 20 hits block or hit. I agree that the start up is horrid, it gets beat by projectiles and other attacks during his start up. So use it wisely, and I dont think you can combo into it.

I mostly use it defensively. It’s very difficult to utility offensively without burning X-Factor because of the move’s huge recovery time. I mostly use it against superjumps, because even if the entire thing is blocked the hits takes much longer to kick in fully than they do on the ground. Generally I use it when my opponent has little life, is zipping around in the air, and I need something that I know will just kill them. So if I’m facing a Spider-man who is zipping all over the skies, and his health is at 10%, I’ll throw one out just so I know the job will get done.

I have played about 150 matches with a ~90% win rate, and I use Akuma(Tatsu)/Dormammu(Dark Hole)/Sentinel(Drones). Those aren’t ranked matches, and most of my opponents have not been very skilled, so take that for what you will. About the first 100 matches were done with Ryu instead of Akuma because I assumed he had a better projectile pressure game, but after getting the Bradygames guide and reading the frame data I realized Ryu has absolutely no worth in this game. Akuma fits the team better anyway.

There is only one true “GTFO” assist in this game, and it is Haggar’s Double Lariat. Every other assist can be stuffed.

You can, just not easily. It’s even in one of Dormammu’s missions.

I use Stalker Flare hyper when I need to DHC to get Dormammu out.

cr. L, cr. M, s. S, jump, a. M, a. M, a. H, a. S, land, Purification (strength depends on where opponent’s position is)

I don’t know all the fancy notations and shit, so I hope you can read/understand.

all i know is this, if u ever connect with OTG purification or happen to catch someone in dark sphere, then u should be doing catastrophic flame cancel into DHC OR cancel into x factor cancelled into another catastrophic flame. The damage is ridiculous for such a simple hit confirm. IMO Doormamu is like a poorman’s dhalsim, instead of good anti air normals tho, u are left with anti air specials, but u can easily hit confirm into high damage off of any connecting specials. Insane.

PErsonally i like building destruction charges instead of creation. lvl 3 destruction does great damage and combos easily.

I’m not sure how useful it is in an actual match, but I’ve been messing around in training, and from full screen it’s possible to use the Catastrophe, M Teleport (so you end up behind them), airdash into launcher (I’m trying to get a full BnB off but doing the df dash is a little tricky). If you want to burn meter, land and do a M Dark Hole into Chaotic Flame.

The only caveat here of course is that it only seems to work from full screen without an X-factor cancel.

Ryu is shit. I saw that since Day 1. lol.

Anyway, inbox me about akuma. What are some tricks/things you like to do? I think my team is going to be Dormmamu, Akuma, Dante. but i need to find my preffered order.

I don’t think Ryu is shit, I should have spoken more carefully. He can definitely win matches consistently, he’s just obviously outclassed by Akuma.

I’ll refrain from this because I am still too new to Akuma, and I have only played about 50 matches with him so far. His best tool is definitely the Demon Flip though; it is the only attack in the game (AFAIK) that auto-corrects if it goes over your opponent. Excellent for mix-ups.
