Burn in the Flames of the Faltine! Dormammu Combo/Strategy Discussion thread

Definitely gonna start charging it more for combos, and have it for its reversal/defense utility if I don’t get the chance to use it/choose not to.

With both assists available, starting with a tri-dash :l: to cr.:l:, and scaling it all to hell, a combo with it in is doing about 950,000 for 1 bar on small character, 1 mil on bigger chars, while building around of 2+1/3 bars.

From tri-dash :h: it’s doing around 1.00-1.02 mil on the smaller chars and 1,050,000+ on bigger chars for the 1 bar. On Sent you can get like 1.1+ lol.

Then there’s the swag ass combo with it into Stalking Flare before bringing them back down to extend it. I wanna record it but I’m not gonna be near my xbox until maybe thursday or so :frowning:

Yea, I love 2D1C. Not only does it do an insane amount of damage off f.H in the corner, but it builds 75% of one bar on its own, and with that charged I have a lvl 1 xfactor ToD on anyone in the cast.

Yeah it looks so sick when all their life just disappears in like 0.1 of a second in XF.

Playing around in training mode the other day I found you can get :h:, :s: xx Teleport (L in the corner, M midscreen) > j.:l:, j.:s: into a full combo for style points. Though it was hard as fuck and took me 10 whole minutes to record that and the following 2D1C combo. Shame though, playing about with it by just starting with either :h:, :s: xx Tele or just :s: xx Teleport you can’t do j.:l:, j.:h: xx Flight > j.:l: etc… because that first j.:l: after the teleport ramps up the HSD. You probably can with XF so I think I’ll put that in a vid sometime, but without XF it’s only the j.:l:, j.:s: : [

Dorm’s combos get me too excited, they’re always so unique depending on assists and player skill. One top player from the UK did 3D on me the other day into Dark Hole, XF cancel, threw a Dark Matter xx Teleport and went into jump loops. It was so sick my, face was all >> 0__0

Every time I see “Faltine”, and I think of saltine crackers, and I get hungry.

I have nothing else to contribute. I like crackers.

I hear that.

You got a video of this? I did it a few times but a lot of times the tp seems to be out of reach or a split second too late to finish the combo.

Yeah I recorded it on sunday morning before I went to sleep (like 7am lol), but my camera died before I could upload it to my computer to edit it lol, and the charger was at my gf’s. I’ll upload it tomorrow when I get back to my flat if I can. It’s character specific though who the light will hit. It works on Wolverine but I think it’s harder on Dorm and doesn’t work on Sent lol, those are the three I’ve tried it on.

It’s harder midscreen though I feel. Not that it’s useful lol.

I finally got back to my flat and recorded it all and edited it, along with all the other stuff I wanted to get as well. I need to get me a capture card lol.

I think a fly combo is possible after that teleport start, but it’s finding someone who has just the right hurtbox structure while getting hit in the air.

Ha nice. How well does it work for crossing up to reset damage? like do one air combo then flame carpet otg into a tp behind them for a mixup?

Okay guys…two questions

  1. What is the best way to deal with a Spencer player who super jumps and uses his diagnol zipline thingy to come down at you? My friend always used the horizontal one, but once I smartened up and realized you can throw him out of it, he switched to the diagnol one and I’m having lots of trouble stopping it with Dormmamu and anyone else really.

  2. What are you guys doing vs a really jump happy Wesker? I run Dorm/Vergil/Hawkeye and lack a good AA assist. I’m a little scared to throw out pillar since if I read it wrong and he teleport in front of them I am cooked. I was absolutely destroying him with basic projectile assist + teleport shenanigans but he’s smartened up and basically stays in the air all day erratically firing the gun and teleport all over the place and I just can’t contain him lol.

Any tips? Would you guys suggest the zoning approach or the rush approach vs Wesker?

Thanks

Definitely zone against Wesker. Call Hawkeye while throwing Dark Matter canceled into pillars. Do the pillars in front of Wesker sometimes, so that you don’t have to worry about getting severely whiff-punished by him.

I was playing about with 2D1C again today trying to find the most damaging combo possible, I’ve managed to find one which seems to be maxing out at 1,188,700 on Sent, building a fraction under 3 bars, and spending only 1 on a Chaotic Flame. Sent dies before you even finish the whole meterless part lol. Can’t seem to find anything more damaging with my team though :frowning:

On Sent starting with Fly H, S = 1,180,000-1,188,700ish
On Sent starting with tri-dash H =1,160,000ish
On Sent starting with tri-dash L, cr.L =1,110,00ish

On Hulk starting with Fly H, S=1,170,000-1,180,000ish

On Thor starting with Fly H, S= 1,150,000ish

On Wolverine starting with Fly H, S=1,100,000-1,117,000ish < That one was massively awkward.

On Rocket Raccoon starting with Fly H, S=1,040,000ish < lol, like trying to jump loop a pea.

Gonna try get a video up of it tomorrow sometime

Right, finally got it uploaded

Edit: Shit. Just beat it again to 1,209,000. FML. Can’t seem to stretch that any further though :frowning:

Very nice. I think that’s all you need anyway. The big threats for Dorm(rushdown) all have like under 950k anyway haha

Id been playing wesker dorm magneto and thing I’m going to toy with starting dorm. Any advice, in that team context, on how to approach the start of a match? Walk in, back away, os jH? I assume matchups play a part here, but in general what’s a good dorm-on-point opening? Always felt nervous about starting him for lack of a good plan here. Thanks!

Jump back H,S + Disruptor is a good starter with Dorm. A good way of keeping assists safe at the begininning of the round is to M teleport which will change the way your opponent is facing, rendering them unable to punish your assist.

Generally though, Dorms options arent too strong at the beginning after the stare down especially if you havent got a gtfo assists like lariat or tatsu. Akuma tatsu absolutely destroys anything Dorm can do a the beginning of the round, you just have to block it and deal with the mixup. I know Tatsu generally blows anything up the beginning but it somehow feels worse when playing with Dorm.

Tatsu is actually considered a GTFO assist for Dorm?

Hey I need help using ammys cold star to continue a combo with dorm. mid screen/ corner. usual dorm combo, launch, land, lay carpet then cold star so i can relaunch. it works for me sometimes, but other times not. Anyone know how to make this consistant? Im starting to think maybe character size has a role. anybody got this down?

I’ve not used it, but as with every other extension if an assist you just have to regulate your spacing and timing.

Try it in the corner first, make sure you’re positioning yourself so that all 5 hits of the Flame Carpet are hitting, so if you’re landing as close as possible to the corner, you should always take a step back. Secondly, start by pressing the assist button and Flame Carpet together and see what happens, and from there adjust it by either pressing the assist button earlier or later, and if you find a correct timing remember it.

I know that with Ammy midscreen you can dash forward after the FC+Cold Star to get better spacing on the next launch, and in the corner you have time to do it, let it hit and charge a spell before doing cr.M, S.

I hope this helps.

Watch how Zak’s Dorm uses Cold Star to relaunch.
