Burn in the Flames of the Faltine! Dormammu Combo/Strategy Discussion thread

I think that’s possible if you have some spells charged up(obviously). I’ll see what I can come up with.

Yeah, you can combo off a Chaotic Flame in the corner. It has to be this exact combo, though.
There’s one frame where you can repeat the combo after the super. Took me about ten minutes to get it down yesterday. lol

That’s what I’ve been hearing. Doesn’t st. M have a 8-frame startup? Plus, is the combo practical, since the jump-in is a normal jump air H (which is slow) instead of a trijump H.

Yeah, it’s an 8 frame startup. It may be practical offline as I can’t imagine doing this online.
If it didn’t have to be done the exact way it’s shown, it could be very practical(maybe).

I can’t imagine putting 1-frame link and practical in the same sentence.

Something i whipped up today.

For some reason I can’t get the H in the second air MMHS. Anyone else got that problem?

No delay in the second air MMHS, also if you’re not delaying the first half of the combo, your opponent will be too high in the air to hit. Chaotic flame timing after DP helps too. I have been pulling this combo off offline extremely easy and I’m terrible with execution.

Where in the first half of the combo should I be delaying?

This may already be known, but I found a way to extend midscreen combos with Dr Strange’s eye of agamotto assist, much like you can with Wesker’s otg assist. The execution requirement is higher but the results are similar, you can even charge a dark spell before you relaunch with S.

The key is to make the opponent land as close to you as possible after the first air combo. There are a number of ways to do this and I haven’t quite narrowed down the best/most reliable methods, but you want them close enough so that you can land, dash forward, call Dr Strange, and then OTG with flame carpet right as the eye of agamotto comes out. If done correctly, they will be caught in the eye of agamotto for all its hits which gives you enough time to charge a spell and then launch with S again after the last hit. If you don’t wait until the last hit the eye will keep hitting them after your S and mess up the combo.

You can also end corner relaunch combos with flame carpet OTG > eye of agamotto > dark hole > super for a bit more damage than just OTG pillar > super

Has anyone devised a list of which characters Dorm can corner relaunch solo with the flame carpet?

yeah i did that in the video i posted above. Plus the midscreen relaunch using eye damage scales hard, so i prefer doing the wallbounce teleport combo.

It’s been posted before on an earlier page when it was first figured out. Maybe try searching for it? I think it was mostly the smaller characters.

I know the old list. The post on the previous page predate Ultimate, so unless someone went back and edited a post from forever ago, I doubt that list would still be valid with the new Flame Carpet placement. The Dorm thread said it had info in the matchup section, but I didn’t see anything. I ask because I’ve gotten the relaunch on Vergil in the corner, so I was curious if the list had been expanded any. I’ll do some testing and see what I find.

People, I need some help with the Strange match-up. I’m still fairly new to Dormammu but still, I feel everything I’d do to keep him out go punished by his anti-beam hyper on reaction =( Do I just try to rush him down? I run Dorm as an anchor so it’s kinda hard for me to deal with him. Any tips?

yeah its definitely tough. In matchups where dorms movement is restricted, a random chaotic flame isnt a bad tactic, but Strange shuts down that option.

I’m honestly at ends as to what to do against him too. I feel strange counters my whole team of Doom/Dorm/Sentinel when he has two or three meters as everything I do is assist based for the most part and he can punish that on reaction.

I guess teleport is your best bet against him. Dorms M teleport will probably cross up his spell of vishanti inputs and his normals arent built for defense once you’re next to him.

Rush Strange down. He has nothing on Dormammu. Just be conservative with your tridashes, since Strange players will try to nail you with Spell of Vishanti. Throw out some superjump with no tridash until late to encourage him to burn meter. Remember that you can just punch through all of his projectiles.

This might be the flame carpet list…

From what I’ve tested, I can’t disprove any of the characters. Yes, he can do it to more than half the cast. To the obviously small characters such as Firebrand and Rocket Racoon, it’s very easy. To the rest of characters such as Vergil, some repositioning needs to be done (going backwards a bit in general but I haven’t attempted it for the longest time so take this with a grain of salt).

yeah strange can zone dormammu better than dorm zones strange, but dorm has better close up options, but be careful of strange’s jumping b. It beats a lot of dorms air moves and leads to full combo.

Id suggest abusing teleports to an extent. call sent drones and do double or triple medium teleport to keep him guessing. Havent fought many good stranges though so this is mostly theory. If someone wants to get practice against my dorm/strange team let me know, im on XBL.

Alright guys, short video. A lot of basic and old stuff in here, and I feel like an idiot for putting the first two clips in. Yet I stil don’t see it being used by a lot of Dorms even though it’s free, so either they don’t know about it or Dorms don’t like free spells lol. Anyway there’s some pretty nice stuff you can do with the buff to 1C:2D.

Does the dark matter Mid screen combo work any where mid screen or will I have to mind my spacing?
