Remember unless they are thwmselves a philosophy major they wont know anything about logic or ‘appeal to authority’, so you are safe. But even if they do, you can always resort to semantics, since many philosophers seem so fond of assigning their own personal meanings to rather commonplace words that are otherwise formally or colloquially well defined. Bludgeon them with condescension, no need to actually stoop to their level and engage in the argument, instead just highlight their ignorance of esoteric minutia and note your disdain.
Remember you know more than people who havent studied the classics, so outside the classroom you are sure to be a hit at every coffee table, and to win the internet.

The funny thing is, that I have never stepped foot in a philosophy course and I actually think that if I did it would go against my beliefs. Seeing as how think that for the most part, the philosophies taught or imposed in a philosophy course on the students are those that sprout from the axiom that life is about the progress and well being of humanity as a whole; while I on the other hand, start with me and end with me. Ultimately, I live for me and me alone and all the philosophies I hold to will be used to support that.
