I stopped posting on SRK with the 09 rush but I’m posting here due to the importance of your methodology of skill progression and the necessary distribution of this wise and lacking knowledge. No one wants to get better. Everyone just wants to play casuals for fun and cock ride the Japanese instead of stepping shit up and surpassing the limits. Sanford talked about this as well.
Mad props to those that still hold sessions no doubt but last time I played was like mid-April during Spring break and I still haven’t taken games seriously since the 90s, I’m not exactly motivated in participating in a mashfest. I take up things for competition and improvement and fighting games in the US are just not at that level. You can say CTF has decent players and comp and that the US still has skill but we are far from that higher level. What I’m trying to say is that we can be so much better but we keep limiting ourselves.
The US needs to stand up, ain’t it about time the Japs started learning from us?

Those are the hot games at the moment. It’s what people are playing and competing in. So yes, you are going to expect a surge in the interest in both of those games. The reason people probably don’t play other games is because the shit is hard to find. A copy of MVC2 is expensive and rare, we all know that. When the re release comes everyone will hop on that. Just give it another week or two then everyone will want to bring it in MVC2.
The days of learning everything at an arcade are dead, gone, buried, burned at the stake and crucified. Yes, it’s sad but that’s the way it is. People don’t want to go and pay money to get beasted on and learn nothing. People will think you are a scrub and shun you. This is why console releases are so popular. They can train at home and use the interweb to figure shit out instead of using trail and error.
On another note I play other games all the time. When the FUCK are we gonna have a World Heroes session? HUH?! HUH!? No one plays that shit… Samurai Shodown V? Anyone… Anyone…empty echoes. I play games no one plays, you play games no one plays, we all play games that no one plays. I like Vampire Savior, i like beer, why can’t we come together and play Vampire Savior and drink beer. =( WHY!?!?
