we’re making the same point.
he asked me what games he should of brought.
and i told him, but he brought his own stuff anyway.
i didnt play that other game they had because i was playing on the computer at that time.
but these guys straight out dissed me by ignoring mvc2.
its not about the game, but when i put it on, they started talking until i took it off.
point is, i wouldnt go to someone’s house annd tell them what to do.
i dont want to play that, or that game is too fast, or put this on i’m good at this.
i do this so we as a group can get better.
not at one game, but many.
i chose this method, and its been proven to work.
if it werent for this, i would still be that same ol’ boring hugo player.
had i not done this, i would never know anakron…he gets my respect for his st skills, playing me in karnov, and picking up xvsf.
had i not done this, i would never know tweleve…he gets my respect for his 3rd strike skills…craziest twelve i ever saw, also st skills.
had i not done this, i would never know you shim…countless games…everything i play, you try to kick my ass.
these guys wont learn.
as a matter of fact…be truthful.
did they improve at all?
i went up a level or 2 in 3rd strike.

anakron has someone to play in karnov.
and we can even get a laugh or 2 from playing sf rainbow.
maybe i’m just talking.
but it seems to me that the only people who get better, are the people who want to get better.

i do agree with you on the rotation part also.
i will let you face the guys a lil more than me.
unless its just us of course.
that 2/3 last night was good.
it gave the loser a chance to make a comeback.

yo, i thought of a good way to motivate people

alright look at this, look at how many games the combined players here play in.
how about we run a series of $1 tournaments for a bunch of games to get motivation for people to come, get better, and just having a good time

like, start a game, run a bunch of casuals, then run a simple tournament, $1 for each game. first place takes the pot

i’ve always wanted to do something like this but never had the opportunity, but this is a good thing we got going here so i just wondered what you guys would think of this idea

Well yeah, if it’s only gonna be like 5 people then the mini tournament idea might not work well.

It’s like, I’m trying to think of something that would attract newcomers to try out other games, but everytime I think I got something, I realize that it still has sides to it that make people less experienced feel nervous about playing a bunch of games they barely know.

have multiple setups so people can play whatever games they are into. at least 2 will do the trick. just throwing in random ideas. I really wanted to go but something came up(work related). next time I will def go. sounds like a good time! :party:

if you have a pc monitor then you play whatever on dreamcast using a vga box(and obviously need dc sticks or converters…I have one)

I know some people prefer sticking to the games they know, but the beauty of these sessions is to get people playing other stuff too.

yeah but can you really blame anyone for not wanting to play marvel and get raped by infinites all day? marvel doesnt even fall under a “normal” game.

same can be said about other games. I wont blame anyone for not wanting to play say cvs2 get styled on by agroovers(though personally I am nice and dont feel the need to tier whore every match). sf4 is kind of an universal game now. everyone plays sf4.

Truth be told, all of us dudes are not hard asses out to get people and make them feel like crap. If we see someone isn’t really experienced in a game, none of us are going to go out of our way to do shit to them that they don’t quite understand why/how it happened.

Marvel for example, we all know how to use characters besides the god tiers. Sure once in a while someone might want to use them, but there’s no way anyone here is going to start doing shit like that to a new player.

CvS2, same deal. Put people through the basics, and once they feel confident enough to start playing seriously, show them all these other exploitable tactics.

they brought over gg a couple weeks ago, and i learned it just because they play it.
found one character that i like, and he moved on to the next version to beast in that.
cuz i never played it…

shim plays me, duke plays me, twelve, ankaron, they all play me.
i’ll rather you go outside and talk, than stay in here and make me have to take my game off cuz you scared.

i charge nothing…there’s no token fee.

and i still cant beat these guys.

Not really taking anything serious we’re just having a good time. I play many games it really doesn’t matter some games were horrible for me on stick though.DOA I can’t touch on stick or samsho well not with the 8 button layout.It still was fun though.I haven not played those games in a while.Next time I’ll do 3s with you guys.

Oh WM I got the laptop to turn on though I know what the problem is the hard drive went dead your gonna need a new one.I’m looking for places to get it for you.If I can get 512 mb pc 100 laptop,Memory I will get it also.Next I’m working on the CD rom drive.

St. I suck at it but its one of the best games ever.

I wouldnt mind sf4 but someone has to bring that then.
Would be nice. I have still only played one game of sf4.

Shim you have good taste in games I like all of those.I have to say my personal fav 3d fighter is VF5, why cause it’s very hard to master and you really have to know what your doing.It’s not like Tekken, not that I’m badmouthing Tekken, but it doesn’t just focus on dial a combos to the wall then game.I feel like tekken has become like a xvssf or vs series game in 3d form.Tekken 3 was my fav through out of the series if you ever play a tekken pick up tekken 3.

St is great my fav out of the sf series definitely the best sf ever.And guilty gear reload, was also my fav out of the gg series.After that the gg series became more broken focusing on combos even more.CVS2 I use to play alot in CTF,use to go against good players too I would put that up there as my other fav game too.

And MSH you want to learn that WM and I can teach you that.Also MVC, I like MVC one alot it has it’s up’s and downs but for some reason I feel it had good gameplay.But definitely next time we will do more xvssf, I will always love that game as my fav VS series game.Still learning things also just picked up Magneto and Sim those gonna be my mains most likely in arcade. I’m gonna give cyc a bit of rest I still like him it’s just I’m having fun with these characters.

I agree with you wm. I don’t recent any fighter either. I just have preference.

You know we have played many games already. sc3, karnov, sfex3.

How about people try to agree on which games to focus on per session.

One session could be Arcana Heart, mvc2, st and kof99

Another one could be xmvssf, msh, sc3, cvs2
or 3s, gg, mvc1, lb2

If someone comes through with sf4 I would say that one is a given at
any session. We should play that then.

Just ideas. I would expect some will only come if there is gonna be st
and some might only come if there is gonna be mvc2 but personally
I will be there no matter which game as long as I don’t
have anything else planned in advance.

Anyways I do think it’s up to you wm. It’s your house and I’m just
very very thankful that we can go there once in a while!

i think that if you want to do whatever you want to do, then do it at your crib…point blank.
i saw what happened.
and twelve talked about motivation.
but these games dont motivate these guys, this debate wont apply to them.
as far as they see, we’re top players.
so as long as they cant win, they wont play.
i remember when i played fr49200 in mvc2 for the first time…i told him what to do, what not to do, i taught him moves, how to wave dash, what his buttons were, all on his first time playing me.
then another time he brought over gg (which i hadnt touched in like about 5 years) and i told him i was new to it.
he put the game on and before i could blink, i was dead.
no teaching me, no telling me button configs or nothing.
it made me laugh, because thats what makes them comfortable.
do you think that if i was horrible in mvc2 that we would have a hard time playing it?
what if they could beat me consistantly in xvsf, would they stand behind and watch me like they do now? or beat da hell outa me every chance they get?
that fate unlimited codes game looked nice, but who in my room besides him and his friend ever played it before?
its a japanese game, and before sunday, i never heard of or seen it before.
i play potempkin in gg now, and he whines everytime i pick him.
his friend beat me in kof mi2…a game i am highly skilled in.
that was over 3 weeks ago…and i’m still hearing stories about how he beat me.
but i perfected him twice on st, and once on 3rd strike…i wouldnt brag about that.
shim perfected me on sunday, he didnt brag about that.
when it comes to games like kof mi2, soul calibur and doa, a button masher can come out the winner.
you cant button mash in games that make you think.
try button mashing in 3rd strike, mvc2, xvsf, msh, vf, st.
these games take a level of skill to compete.

i started playing xvsf in summer 07 because i was visiting ny.
i moved back to philly until january 08.
started playing seriously like around september or so, and met hatter.
played against him and jason, and got good.
i’m not great, i’m not unbeatable.
but i took time to learn the game’s mechanics.
you think hatter didnt kick my ass?
think i still dont get my ass kicked?
but i’m determined to put my wolverine on the charts and i’m going for it.

when i host again, we’ll all decide what games we should play that day.
its not up to me.
its my house rules, but thats for when you get here.

games that i own:
MVC2, MSH, ST, 3RD STRIKE, SOUL CALIBUR, SF EX3, XMVSF, KOF 11, ARCANA HEART AND KOF MI2.

cvs2 and gg belongs to fr49200.
but if mvc2 is being played that day, we’re not gonna see him.
