ill def be going if the weathers not horribly bad, sometime sooner would be nice however
good luck with the business, im glad to see Guilty gear is alive in that area, definately a great i dea for at GTASF vs MTL vs Ottawa tourny for sure :woot:
i wish it could be sooner but it looks like january. ill make sure that it is on a weekend with good weather. if the support is there ill definately hold big tournies for montreal vs toronto vs ottawa.
And here I am planning shit for Ottawa in February May or June. Maybe I’ll just throw big shit down at your joint. Hope for success. Ottawa will come. It’s not far at all for us to get there.
go train?, what is the name of the nearest station
take the via rail. if a bunch of guys came from srk together i would pick you guys up from the train station. (as long as you guys fit) or u guys can take a cab from the train station and it would cost 7 or 8 in total. brockville is only an hour away.
can i expect to see Tekken 6 or DR at this place at some time or another?
im a huge fighting game fan and have been on srk since 2001. my original login was banned because some xbl scrub was an admin and i posted a video of him getting owned and dropping after he was talking shit. as a result i will do everything in my power to have the best fighters there. the company that im working for is one of the largest in canada (nws games). they have everything. they even do all of the games for canada’s wonderland and the cineplex odeon thearters. if something is coming out just tell me and ill try and get it (as long as it gets fed as all machines are quarter hungry!)
Man, your avatar is NICE. Ryu, alpha style.
are we aware that brockville has a total population of 40 000 people?
Ottawa has 1 million and we can barely sustain 1 arcade.
Yeah. Internet Cafes do a lot better than Arcades. You might even want to serve many types of coffee. In an Internet Cafe, you pay like $10 for 5 hours. From a consumer prospective, I think it is a rip off, but from an owner’s perspective, it is bread and butter.
If you get the FIRST Time Crisis, it would be cool. My personal advice? DO NOT get Tekken. Tekken Arcade games single-handedly put Arcades out of business. After the cave got T4, it was in financial trouble for years, and eventually changed owners. There used to be an Arcade in the South Keys area here in Ottawa on Alta Vista at Bank. THEY got Tekken 4. About a year later, there was a big FOR LEASE sign in the window, and the door was locked 24/7. Do the math. Just go with Street Fighter and X-Men VS games. MAYBE a Soul Calibur game, but be carefull. Any Namco Arcade game might be a huge financial burden. Trust me: I’ve seen Arcades come and go. In Ottawa, there used to be 2 big Arcades on Rideau Street, and 4 or 5 all allong Bank Street, one on Sparks Street, and maybe a couple on Elgin. Now? Z-E-R-O. I have to go to University to have a game of SF3:rofl:. I am a huge Arcade fan, but not many people, apparently, are. I might go with a Cyber Cafe with a 3rd Strike machine in the corner.
Personal Request: Marvel Super Heroes VS. Street Fighter. Playing that game would bring back a lot of good memories:clap:. And the FIRST Killer Instinct. Not the second one (KI2). 1996 all over again!
the reason that arcades do bad is because the games is their only source of income. there is no other entertainment place in the whole town. it will also be a cyber cafe and computer sales/service center. i will be holding regular events.
another reason that alot of arcades do bad is that they buy too much. most of the machines should be put in on a profit sharing basis and then purchased if it is seen as a performer. another problem is game selection. ill give you an example of what can put an arcade out of business. lets just take the dragon punch game for example (the game that measures how hard you punch). it is listed as one of the most profitable games right now and it costs about 5-10k. if you purchase it and a couple of other machines like this and they dont perform you are in big trouble.
OK. But DO NOT get Tekken 6! It costs like $1,000,000,000,000.
if i get it its gonna be on a profit sharing basis (i get 50%) in which i get it for free.
btw if the business model works well other locations will be opened.
So there is no down payment? No lease? And…I know the Ottawa players: they are Tekken haters. No one will play Tekken 6 if you get it. It is a waste.
i was thinking of getting one to turn into a toilet
Golden!
i had a meeting yesterday with my investment guy and it looks like a green light. its gonna be open early 2008.
hold a tournament for opening weekend. Film it.
have teams city v city and shit.
i concur. I think this would be ideal for hosting Big Ottawa events.
