so i’m watching Floe run Nemesis at NCR right now - lots of raw j.H, but he was doing a string of L, M, Deadly Reach xx Tentacle Slam L. the point blank Deadly Reach whiffs, so if you wait a bit to cancel into the command grab they come back out of stun… i’d never seen that before and i think it’s pretty cool.

I’ve been doing that jumping wakeup tech a lot in the corner, and it’s very much fun. I think it’s reliable and I’m a fan.

I never knew that command grabs worked on rolls without giving the opponent any window, but I’m trying it, and I’m catching people with it, sometimes. But not computers. They always have the ability to get out of grabs by reading inputs, but if this is really foolproof, I shouldn’t see computers managing to jump away if they’re recovering into the active frames. I just don’t really see the need to make much use of this with my team, though. I usually end my combos with BWA DHC’ed into X-23’s Dragon Punch Super, which leaves them forced to roll up next to X-23, who is terrifying against people waking up. So, lemme know if this becomes big, but I can confirm it is hard to escape when timed right, but I prefer something I won’t drop a lot.

I don’t know what is worse, Unknown Nemesis, or Unknown C.Viper…

random fact - nemesis can link :h: after :dp::m: in x-factor level three.

Good to know. I always enjoy more heavy attacks in combos.

I know you guys hate him and he’s no Airtola, but still, give the man SOME credit. I’d rather be watching Airtola whoop as instead of Unknown too, but I still don’t understand why he gets so much hate

I know what you mean. Surprise surprise folks, Unknown is IMPROVING OVER TIME. What a shocker.

Everyone is shitty with a character when they first start out, and heavies in marvel are… Weird, so to expect people to understand nemmy right off the bat is unfair. He’s not a difficult character execution wise, but he requires a COMPLETELY different mindset than other characters, and even other heavies.

Besides, any representation is good representation, and as long as current nemesis running players don’t drop him, I’m fine with anyone who uses nemmy, even if he’s bare bones. Unknown has only appreciation from me, as does airtola.

As for the actual video, unknown did good. I enjoyed watching him.

Yeah, I’ve been in agreement since some of the earlier Xanadu tournaments this year, where I saw him really stepping up his game. The man’s been improving vastly, and is the nemesis right now. I’m kind-of upset at him for replacing his Nemesis with Wolvy or C. Viper as of recently, but I’m no longer upset at his Nemesis play at all. He’s currently our representative, and I think as of a month or so ago, he’s showing off some of the cooler stuff Nemesis can do. I may even borrow his ender from this match after a corner command grab (he’s going otg into crouching heavy, rocket, then punches, I’m doing otg into dp heavy, and then punches once the bounce right next to my face. Now don’t I feel silly).

I think he’s exploring C.Viper and Wolverine as a form of counter-picking. You’ll notice that the rest of his team stays the same. Also, he’s not our Rep. Airtola’s our rep. Literally too, since he’s going to Shadowloo Showdown…or was it SBO?

I guessed as much for the counter-picking, just sad to see Nemesis being used only once in a while. And, sorry to say, I just don’t know Airtola that well. I too often watch the Xanadu and Spooky streams, and know mostly NY and Maryland players. If I remember correctly, he rocks the Anti-Air Gamma Charge synergy, right?

That grab at the 04:00 mark? Was that an option select as he was trying to do MMHS and pressed bH or was that intentional do you think?

rule of thumb: if you cant tell whether something was a sick reset or just a flub, assume the former and try to learn from it.

in all seriousness though, i have no clue

My guess is flub. Air tech resets aren’t the sort of this you can reset from easily. You have to really know what you’re doing, especially for normal grabs. I’ve tried with both Deadpool and Strider, who have really good double jumps and it’s rather easy to guess right.

Agreed, especially because that throw depended on Dang resetting in the direction he did. Nemesis has pretty few air options for that kind of situation, as opposed to people like Deadpool and Strider. Unknown’s got enough resets, my guess is he isn’t too concerned with resets from air combos off of really specific amounts of hitstun. I mean, if one more or fewer drone hit Arthur during that combo, probably is the timing would’ve been completely different. That’s not something you can micromanage on the fly like that.

I’ve been usin Nem since day 1 of Ultimate cuz I really love Nem from RE3…hes gets REALLY frustrating sometimes though  I’ve tried replacing him numerous times with characters like Spidey, Spencer, Dormammu, Sentinel…but they just didn’t do what Nem could for my team. Well anyway…what I’m tryin to say is, don’t give up on Nem, hes freakin AMAZING but it can get tough sometimes…I suggest just trying to learn what Nem can do with your team and find that hiden synergy! all of his assists are great imho. Remember to go for meter gain over damage when your doing nem combos, use his range, play smart, be patient…etc u guys know what to do with Nem lol. Hopefully I won’t disappoint you guys if I make it to Aussie land!

:coffee: First time lurking around the Nem threads. Thank all of you guys for the useful tidbits of information, it helped give me a greater understanding of the character and got my creative juices flowing again … looking forward to finding new ways to improve my Nem game!

Glad to help anyone we can, from pro player to off the bus new guy. Welcome to the Nemesis zone. I hope you’ll find our input rewarding, as it tends to be plentiful if nothing else.

How to improve you Nemesis game: Up usage of jM by 600%. That simple. Especially if you use Hulk AA assist. I know I’m always harping on this move, but it significantly improves certain matchups and has gotten me to 6th Lord by it’s lonesome. And I suck in actual matches(Hi, Colonel-Gilgamesh, resident lab rat at your service)!

Also, I recommend looking into the BWA THC from Hulk. It can sort of be used in a similar way to Doom with Ammy behind him like Marlin likes to use, but more crude. It also has more holes, but whatever. Hulk’s hypers are short and I’m sure you can make use of it a giant tracking uber ground bounce.

oh fuck, Airtola’s in this shit now. Welcome dude! Love your nemesis. Heck, I love your whole team! Any team that’s rockin’ 2 or more heavies gets my seal of approval!

but I appreciate the pep talk! out of cusiosity, as a tourney goer, what does it seem like the general consensus most (good) tourney goers have on Nemesis? Is he regarded like Haggar, where people acknowledge his strengths and raw power and treat him like a threat, or does he still have some of the pre-release stigma attached to him? I ask cuz I know most of us here in the Nemesis forum stick up for the big guy whenever he’s brought up in Tier/balance discussions here on the forums, where people have a habit of dickriding anyone above “A tier”, and often neglect anyone else.

please elaborate on the bolded if you would, because Nemmy’s assist game has always been the most difficult for me to figure out. like, I tend to use rocket assist since rocket is one of the most underrated projectiles in the game (IMO, it’s top 10 for best projectiles, easily), so giving that to Sent or Doom (my other characters) is a solid plus, but his other two I find a little harder to incorporate into teams. In what ways do you find Clocket and RL slam assist useful?

also, good fucking luck in australia man! We’ll all be cheerin’ you on!
