Breaking Bad

last week in the flashback scene they mentioned that when he started dealing/distributing he was the frycook (or something like that) at the time. so basically he went from frycook to meth distributor owning a bunch of pollos hermanos restaurants. thats straight up scarface shit right there. on top of all that he’s a respected businessman in the community especially with the d.e.a. haha i freaking love it.

Well I have finally found a thread for this amazing show so I’m just going to dive in. Quick thoughts on why I think Gus did what he did in the hospital. I think he was testing Walts’ honesty when he was asking if their was something that he should know, when all along he knew the real reason why walt was not in the lab cooking. Since Walt failed to be honest, Gus made a point of letting him know that he is a lot more powerful and calculating than he could have ever imagined and that is why he went to the hospital. That and the fact that he wanted to serve as a distraction so that mike the cleaner could take care of the other cousin.

it’s Gus walt has to worry about. gale can’t do a god damn thing now that Gus is making big timer moves. if gale tries to take walt’s formula somewhere else or something he will get a cap put in his ass.

It’s not a bout the formula, and Gale won’t be a lone wolf. Chance are he’ll join another kingpin and tell them all about Gustavo’s operation and the main man in charge, Heisenberg. It would be his kind of revenge for being scorned.

Yeah that scene with the assassin crawling off the bed was one of the craziest things i have ever seen.

I don’t even know how that worked? Prosthetics? CGI? I couldn’t even see where they faked it.

legs tucked into the bed until he fell off. then CG when he was crawling at Walt.

Gus is awesome. Hope he and Saul are around for the next season.

And Jesse is starting to become annoying. I understand that he is a druggie and does stupid things, but it’d be nice to see him do something positive and productive every now and then.

Seriously I look forward to Sunday evenings more than anything now. I just have to reiterate how badass Gus is. I’m going to miss the dynamics between Walt and Gail. Poor Gail.

Yep. Jessie is acting like a complete idiot. You think that at the beginning of the season he would turn it around with him getting cleaned up but no. Everytime he calls someone a guy a bitch he sounds like one. He needs to leave that shit to the females.

I hope not yet. More Mystery Less History. His backstory is more of a finale kind of story.

After last night, we find out what he really is after and he isn’t afraid of anything. Walt looks so far from bad ass now in the grand scheme of things after we see Gustavo in action. lol. Looking forward to how Gus deals with the rest of the “families” as the cousins’ boss referred to them before he died. But then we know now that Gus isn’t just American, nor is he Mexican but “South American” so we’ll see how connected he really is eventually.

Marie got her shot this time at best supporting nod from last night as well. lol Hank’s was last episode and Jesse had his monologue. I hope they got the supporting actor category on lock for next season as well as Cranston’s 3rd best actor win.

I really didn’t take Jesse’s monologue seriously. To me it looked like a random punk talking shit cause that’s what he is. Jesse has been on bottom tier for a while. He doesn’t do much and he’s an idiot. Before I was rooting for Jesse to become some kind of crime lord but he’s not evolving one bit. In summary, Jesse sucks.

I liked Jesse’s monologue because it accentuated his character and his feelings of inferiority that have been plaguing him. Unbeknown to Walt (up until that time) he was pretty much a father figure for Jesse and all he wanted was some respect to stay on good terms.

But I agree, Jesse is acting like a buffoon, but in that period of time, I understood his feelings and actions.

I liked Jesse’s emotional state when his girlfriend ODed

Now he’s back to being a whiny little SOB.

Jesse is just pissed cause he got his ass stomped…again. That last beat down was some violent buffalo shit. You would be feelin salty too. I like the way he got his house back a few episodes back, now that was slick. In a way I think of Jesse as one of the only “good hearted” people on the show. That episode where he finds the filthy toddler in the meth head’s house who robbed Skinny P comes to mind. Anyways, let’s hope he doesn’t blow his new lab position, cause when its all said and done, he’s the one Im probably rooting the hardest for.

Oh and a full Gus backstory episode would be to awesome. Hope it happens!

Sadly, I don’t think we’ll see a flashback until something unfortunate happens.

Thank you AMC for having back to back episodes so I don’t miss it every week! I had to watch the Survivor finale.

I’ll put it the discussion in spoiler tags for those who havent seen it yet. It goes without saying, don’t read and STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM THIS THREAD if you can’t/don’t watch the show weekly, but I’ll put it in spoiler tags anyway even though there aren’t any spoilers.

this week’s episode discussion

[details=Spoiler]
Episode was a little tame this time but big things are happening, big scary things. One of which is Walt talking to Gustavo to show him that he isn’t an idiot and he definitely knows the score. It looks like Walt is really good at this and its really scaring him how this line of business comes so easy and comfortable for him and how much in control he is of doing (bad) things that for a moment while driving he wanted to feel like he’s not in control of his actions. (Was it guilt or is he questioning if he’s got a handle on things?)

Jesse deciding to skim from their production and deciding to start distribution again. A more grassroots campaign compared to Gustavo’s wholesale. I don’t know how that is going to end, but at this point whatever he does looks so goddamn inconsequential considering Gustavo’s operation, but of course we know these things never have a happy ending or are as innocuous. Another sign of brilliant writing on this show is when they equated Jesse’s desire to go back slinging again to a blue-collar work ethic. lol. It’s one of those darkly comic things that make you lol and are never done on any shows or movie in recent memory. It also raises the question of whether Jesse is doing this because when you look deep down into it, he’s developmentally arrested and stuck on that age where he feels the need to rebel to any authority and in this scenario, Walt and Gustavo are “the man”, the authority and this is his fuck you to them just as he will be/is a fuck up in any employment scenario. We know alot of people like this in real life. He’s got that adolescent scarface fantasy thinking there’s something more noble to what he is doing compared to Gustavo’s organized operation. That people like them (criminals) shouldn’t be having money laundering/front operations, paying taxes, etc. lol If he really believes this, he’s definitely fucked.[/details]

yeah i agree.

Spoiler

Jesse is really messing up on this one… of course he is a bad guy so whatever gets him caught i guess…

That’s the problem though. If the government gets Jesse, they can get to Walt or he can give them Walt/Gustavo. That is if Saul doesn’t “get” to Jesse first, Saul already expressed to Walt how comfortable he is disposing of Jesse if push comes to shove.

Another dark joke last night was the fact that Jesse heard the word “Kafkaesque” from the support group leader and didn’t know what it meant but made it a part of his vocabulary anyway. It’s moreso hilarious because Jesse is putting himself in a situation that is the exact opposite of “Kafkaesque” which is that he is getting in to trouble for reasons of completely his own doing instead of everyone conspiring to take him out/made him helpless. Maybe if he only busted out the dictionary or crack a book open to find what it means he could have the epiphany he needs instead of being so bull headed about things.

EDIT:
goddamn I just realized I don’t have my Heisenberg avatar. WTF am I still rocking Archer when it wrapped up some time ago.

that rehab meeting scene had me dying. that was some sheisty ass shit if i ever saw it. i was expecting them to set up a stand afterwards and asking people to take the blue stuff challenge.
