[details=Spoiler]I wish I could be all big-dick about predicting this, but it turns out that my conclusion about the alternate ending on the DVD isn’t original at all. Fucking internet. To see what I’m talking about…
I wish they had gone with the witness protection angle, but I can see why they went all Newhart: Walt’s cancer wouldn’t let him last that long.

Does he still have Robert Forster’s phone number? Kind of sucks that with all his enemies dead, nobody can testify that he was in the lab as a slave. Actually, that might be the most horrific thing out of a horrific show.
The Nazi’s took Jesse’s belongings (I assume), and I doubt he wrote down the guy’s number.
But yeah, when I read the article, I was like “Damn, that’s harsh.” I don’t think the viewers could’ve handled seeing yet another gut punch like that at the end
I discussed that when I saw the episode. They never really resolved him as a character, he just speeds away laughing like a maniac. I felt it was the only weak point in that episode. The least he could have done was take a barrel of money or something with him. So we get the feeling he can hide away somewhere and just live out the rest of his days.
They had to leave Jesse’s ending open, for the reasons that Vince enumerated. Yeah, realistically, he doesn’t have much of a chance, but by not showing what happens, at least there’s hope. Most viewers probably want at least that much for him.
That always bugged me too. At one point they were going to elaborate on it, but decided not to. The basic idea, is that Gus was somebody important in Pinochet’s army, and very very gay.
I had the pleasure to go back to Albuquerque for an MTG tournament last week. The city still sucks all sorts of dick but now it has more hipsters and less trannies.
