Yes JDing alot doesn’t help. Think about how many times you must JD to even out a fierce punch. Like 10? Unlike parry, you can’t retaliate after alot of things. If your opponent keeps jabbing, you’ve got to keep JDing until you miss or until he stops jabbing for example.
The real advantages of JD is meter building, discouraging and preventing chipping/poking, delay guard break and feeling very safe in the air. I consider retaliation and life gain only a minor advantage. Because an experienced player won’t throw so many moves out that aren’t safe after JD. But vs scrubs, JD looks like parry to them.
I don’t really choose to JD alot. It’s just a habit. And yeah I don’t play people enough. The ONLY person I play routinely is my brother.

Super slow and lazy
That’s the only reason I wouldn’t say Tylor isn’t the best in the west end. Gerjay, and possibly me have leagues of experience vs top players, and that’s something you can’t get from watching vids.
If Tylor joined more tournies or played more causals or whatever with the folks at orbit or something, I’d have no doubt that Tylor would become the best in the west end. He’s just missing that last little bit to make him a true beast.
Right now, (while not trying to boast) the best in the west end is probrably a toss up between Gerjay and me. Probrably more Gerjay than me, mainly cause i scrub out too much during tournies. The reason I say that is because A-Blanka is fucking cheap. And Gerjay and I both know quite well how to abuse that cheapness.
