oh shit! if that fight goes down there’s gonna be a race war on my block lol
I hate to sound all fanboy-ish, but I think that it is HBO that is the main financial backers of their fights and the promotion company is just a manager of the fighter. Golden Boy promotions is very successful because they have HBO backing them up. We’ll never see a Golden Boy promoted fight without HBO paying for the date and site fees. Top Rank on the other hand, has the abality to put on their own shows with or without an HBO or Showtime. In a sense, Top Rank is more of a real pomotional company than Golden Boy. HBO decides the fight dates and has the biggest influence in match making in boxing today.
As for Bob Arum and Floyd working together again, I’d say that money heals all wounds. If I could advise Floyd, I would state the obvious and say that in today’s economy, sells of eveything goes down, especially PPV’s. Floyd should not expect his “$20 millions just for base pay” and expect to get less. Fighters can make much more then the base pay with shares of the PPV numbers anyways. Floyd’s $8 million base pay against Oscar last year turned out to be over $25 million form PPV shares.
actually when the economy is as busted as it is, a lot of entertainment aspects make more money. I would venture to say this would be one!
I shouldn’t have assumed the sales of PPV would go down like that.
I felt all geeked out and made a video on the fight.

omg this fight needs to go down. the shit talking has already commenced at work. people that don’t watch boxing kill me with their “analysis” though still thinking that DLH “beat” floyd. mayweather/paquiao NEEDS to happen.
I’m thinking about uploading HD fights online, if anyone wants to see Diego Corrales vs. Jose Luis Castillo I round ten in HD:
Wow, that fight looked crazy. Fuck. I want watch that now.
EDIT: I want Pacquiao to lose. Hopefully Mayweather can close the deal on that wish. I feel Pacquiao has been dodging good fighters and needs to get put in his place.
Thank goodness. His run at it last year was a disaster. Same with his try at movies. I am glad that he’s been mostly distraction-free this year.
what fighters you think Pacquiao is dogging? I can say a third fight with Juan Manuel Marquez is a must, but besides him, fighting Oscar da la Hoya was the best choice he could make. Biggest name recognition in boxing, eight figures payday, Manny had everything to gain and nothing to lose going into that fight. It is sad to say, but Oscar lost eveything in that fight ( legacy, reputation) besides the fight itself.
I doubt a third fight with Marquez is going to happen. Pac is not going back to 135 and most likely has “two” big fights left in him: Ricky Hatton in spring 2009 and if he wins this and Money May comes back, a fall showdown in the end of '09. I don’t see Pac fighting anyone other then these two. the number one pound for pound fighter doesn’t fight tune-ups or up and comers, all big fights from here on out.
I dunno man, all the fighters Pacquiao has fought (other than Marquez) were on their way out of boxing anyway. Barrera and Morales were considering retiring before their Pacquiao matches, so essentially those felt like they were losing their step in the ring.
I don’t know too much about Ricky Hatton, but it seems like the hardcore want to see this match happen, so I tend to believe them.
I used to follow boxing religiously back in the 90’s up to around 2004, then I just stopped for some reason. I am getting back into it again for obvious reasons, but I feel that Pacquiao hasn’t fought a real challenger not because there isn’t anyone around, it’s that he is carefully picking his wins.
:amazed::amazed::amazed:
wow thats fucking crazy.
So someone’s had this round on catalog for like, 3 years before uploading to Youtube in HD? That’s hella long, haha. Thanks for the link.
wow. that fight is sick. :amazed:
youtube didnt have an hd option til recently.
stylistics pretty much hit the nail on the head, there really isn’t anybody worth fighting that pacquiao hasn’t fought. i’d argue that hatton isn’t really worth fighting for any reasons other than a financial after the way he’s shown up in his last few fights.
Pac-Man and FLoyd makes sense…
Get it done!
The money these guys make is insane btw. I’m kind of late to this, but I guess having a niche really helps in the money aspect.

Watching some of Floyd’s fights early in his career. This is his 10th fight.
I finally got my highlight vid on pacquiao de la hoya on 720p HD:

Very finny vid where a 2 point deduction for “kissing”

people who were sleeping on him until his last few fights forget that at 130-140 floyd had KO power.
Those announcers are out cold
David Haye vs Vitali Klitschko is on for June 2009. Should be good.
