Paulie Malignaggi with a so-so performance, but good enough for the victory.

Hatton in typical fashion. it’s great to see him comeback with a strong performance.

looking forward to the promotion to the upcoming Ricky Hatton vs. Paulie Malignaggi fight. We’ll be hearing Paulie talking mad shit with that New York attitude of his. It is going to be a great promotion to Hatton vs. Malignaggi

wtf were you guys watching the same fight? hatton is done, imo. if he wasn’t in england that mexican cat was looking to get him out of there in 10th, until the ref arbitrarily stopped the fight…and then while milling in the corner hatton decided that he needed to tie his shoe, netting him more time to recover…was hatton winning the fight yeah, but if he’s letting 33 year old journeyman give him the business then he needs to go back to the lab and come back with something new. the versus commentators were hitting it spot on.

(i had the fight 9-3, btw)

well I never though hatton was good or looked good in the first place so…

Hatton saved by bloody shoelaces…what the hell matey?

We need some Amir Khan…:wonder:

I was away from the computer all day and just heard about Floyd Mayweather’s retirement.

I wish him all the best.

damn wow…guess he wont be throwing that money at the clubs anymore. lol ducking cotto uh? j/k j/k

mayweather is one of the GOATs, he beat all of his contemporaries and beasted 6 weightclasses. mad props if he’s actually able to stave all the itch to comeback and fight some upstart to respond to the clownshow media talkin shit about his legacy.

is anybody watching hbo right now? that puerto rican cat knocked de leon the fuck out, vicious hooks.

mayweather GOAT…idk bout that…

ponce de leon got a taste of his own medicine ( KO in 1). Juan Manuel Lopez would be a good “next fight” for Isreal Vasquez or Rafael Marquez.

Good to see Kelly Pavlik again even if it was a tune-up.

I didn’t watch the Showtime fights but I couldn’t believe Vernon Forrest was beat by Sergio Mora. And good comeback for Paul Williams to KO Quintina to get his belt back.

Now that Mayweather jr retired, Oscar de la Hoya could be in line to fight the winner of Cotto vs. Margarito, but I doubt Oscar would want to fight any of the two and would fight a smaller guy in Pacquiao if Pacman wins his next fight in a couple of weeks.

pacman vs de la hoya?

Can anyone PM a link so I can watch Sat’s fights? Boxing coverage is horrible in Canada so I hardly get to watch any of the matches.

Blech…anyone watch Mora/Forrest?

It is hard to get boxing downloads on the internet but some of the places I get my downloads from:

since Floyd Mayweather Jr. retired, that has left Oscar de la Hoya without a fight scheduled in September. If Oscar still proceeds with the September fight, yhe two biggest names in boxing are: Cotto and Pacquiao, “if” they both win their next fights.

Oscar can try to rematch Felix Trinidad, but the weight class is a big issuse. Cotto would probably have to go up to 154 to fight Oscar, but Pacquiao would be a bit hard to decide the weight because he is a much smaller fighter.

Since Mayweather is retired, is Pacquiao the number one on the pound for pound lists?

I’m thinking of trying boxing. What things should I look for when I’m looking for a gym?

lol@ de la hoya saying mayweathers ducking him…that guy is a douchebag.

seconded, any advice would be cool. I’m thinking about checking out the Y across the street but I don’t really know what kind of equipment is needed for training, etc.

#1 thing to look for in a gym is trainers who will give you individual instruction. The last thing you want is a boot camp environment. Equipment is secondary in comparison to committing yourself to doing roadwork. It won’t matter how good your combinations are if you get tired in a single round.

I did some research and found a boxing specific gym located within jogging distance to where I live. Seems that they have personal trainers, etc. It’s only open from 4:30 to 6:00 though. I think I can do pretty well stamina-wise thanks to years of DDR, Skating, and sports in general. Gonna have to focus some on upper body strength though.

My gym and many others are typically only open from about 6-8 p.m. which is more than enough time if your using it wisely.

Don’t build too much upper body strength because it’s just dead weight after a certain point; you want snap in your punches. A good way to end your workout is throwing punches straight from your waist until you can’t even lift your arms anymore. Don’t put any power behind it, just 1-2-1-2-1-2, etc. Weight lifting is almost always a bad idea when it comes to boxing. Your better off doing push-ups on your knuckles.
