OH no, Katsidis! Man, Boxing has been cruel to me this year.
I’m watching the fight right now ( I don’t have HBO) and what a first round.
How about Juan Diaz vs. Michael Katsidis. The winner goes back to a title hunt.
I’m on round 6, Casa got Knocked out the Ring! daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayum
Man that be a war for sure, I can’t picture either of them taking a step back.
Just finished the fight. I thought the stoppage was quick, but Katsidis legs was gone. Maybe, it was only a matter of time if the fight wasn’t stopped at that point and the refs job is for the health of the fighter and safety. But, I agree with Thurst that the stoppage was too quick.
Katsidis seemed a good enough puncher. Great effort, boxing fans will look forward to see Michael Katsidis again.
Although Paul Williams, Michael Katisdis, Juan Diaz, Andy Lee; all lost their first fight this year, they are the future of boxing.
That was a good match, and a great comeback from the Casa dude comeback from being knocked out of the ring. Missed the first couple of rounds, I may have to watch the rerun.
casamayor calling out pacquiao and marquez is funny to me. his just trying to rake in some money and honestly i would not pay to see casamayor fight he is a average, at the most, boxer. he is not on the level of pacquiao or marquez and will get tko’ed or it will be a onesided fight.
Same goes for juan diaz. he is from my hometown but he is a little bit above average and not entertaining to watch. IMO both would lose to pac and marquez.
if casamayor was having trouble with katsidis following him aroung imagin what would happen against pacquiao who hits harder, unbelievably fast, has great foot work, and is almost impossible to knock down.
I don’t blame Casa for calling out Pacquiao. Casa has 9 kids ( found out from the hbo telecast) and he is at the end of his career. Fighting Pac is like hitting the lottery. Will Casa have a chance to fight Pac, I doubt it. Pac is going to match up against David Diaz, or Nate Campbell and Ricky Hatton. I agree that Casa would have trouble with Pac’s footwork and hand speed.
Juan Diaz needs to work on his power. As well as his physique. He had quite a soft body against Nate Campbell and Nate took advantage by going to the body.
I got the march madness line from a boxing site, but is true:
Marquez - Vazquez III, Juan Diaz - Nate Campbell, Pacquiao - Marquez II, and Casamayor - Kitisdis = Boxing’s March Madness
March was probably one of the best month of boxing, ever.
casa kept holding to stay alive, kasidis shoulda done the same
juan diaz’s body has always looked soft maybe its because he just has that type that doesn’t get cut up. Looking at his body its not intimidating and he definately needs more power.
katsidis messed up when he got up too fast after being knocked down the last time. its a mistake that boxers do trying to show they’re not hurt but when hurt everyone knowsit. He should have stayed down and tried to get get all the time could have. Another example is zab judah got up too fast and fell right back down. dont remember against who.
Also pac against hatton will rake in tons of money with both of them being ther country’s hero, and their crazy fan base. This would be a great fight to see how pac adapts to hattons bull rush style.
Pac would smack him down, someone who would evade Pac’s punches I could see causing troubles but Hatton has a poor defence I don’t see him eating to many of Pac’s punches though their is a weight difference.
pac is a great puncher but i was refering to both of them usually being the aggressor. Hattons defense is actually pretty good for constantly following the opponetnt around. He keeps his hands up and head down, also he moves well when attacked. Only flaw is he sometimes tends to drop his hand other hand when he punches and gets reckless at times. Main example hatton vs mayweather but then again mayweather is too good.
I think you misunderstood my point gunners, I would bet my money on pac but the hype for this fight in their respective countries and for some boxing fans in general would be crazy.
HAttons defnse has always been prolematic though, I wouldnt call it good. I would just say he is usually pressing the action by holding and punching so he doesn’t have to rely on blocking. When he does he gets stung though, I can recall a couple matches where he has been hurt by poor defense.
EDIT: I gotta add that its been a great year already for boxing, Most my fighters are losing but the action has been top notch!
yeah it’s like backyard brawling but raised to a slightly higher level since were all 22-23 and for the most part know that just trying to randomly land a crazy, wide, loopy punch just wont do. We also want to cause great physical trauma to each other and this is what we came up with.
and because i want to kill all of them i need some more info please.
i’ve seen the the gloves on the link provided and was wondering what was the difference between the the amateur and professional laced gloves.
can i go wrong getting the 8 oz gloves? my thinking is that very few shots will be blocked with the gloves so having smaller gloves would equal less of a view being obstructed and the smaller weight would equate to a faster delivery of the punches.
i guess that’s it for now.
a lot of time it’s not that they’re trying to show that they’re not hurt, it’s that their brain is on auto-pilot at that point which is why a lot of times a dude will get knocked down and then just rush after the other guy disresgarding the rules of boxing at which point the ref will have to stop him and give him the standing 8 or whatever. back in the day that sort of thing led to motherfuckers getting killed since as soon as a person got up you were allowed to jump back on them.
Sometimes, a puncher is pre-programmed not to hold because that would take away his weapon, on the inside. Even while on survival mode, Katsidis couldn’t hold. Casa’s holding is what a boxer does to take away the punchers chance to work on the inside.
sometimes, a loss can be a win in terms of an audience wanting to see that fighter again because how well he performed. Like Aurtro Gatti.

The difference between the pro and amateur (besides the looks) is the weight. I think amateur boxing is 12 oz and professional is, depending on state, 8-10 oz.
As for 8 oz gloves, I would not suggest using them. Those are pro fighter’s gloves in a real fight. I’ve only used the proper 16 oz for sparring. The 16 oz don’t look too big. I use the training gloves for sparring, the hook and loop to make it easier to put them on.
if you are going to do this, safety first. I highly suggest 16 oz gloves, anything less ( 14 oz, 12 oz, 10 oz) is too much of a risk.
katsidis was doing a good deal of holding himself, how else do you think he made it out of the first round? if he wasn’t holding casa was looking to get that 3rd knockdown and get him out of there.
lol thanks stylistics.
Clearing out hd and uploading some of my old stuff. The Pac fights have the (oft annoying) Pinoy commentary, please bear
in the 1st round he did hold alot, but he didnt stay that way for most of the fight
