Actually, I thought that maybe Mayweather got into his head. Marquez usually likes to come out & punk out his opponents first, then go to school on their asses. But with Mayweather (who from the beginning was the crowd favorite) he couldn’t get around that. :wow:

I don’t think age played that much a factor in this fight. 35 is still pretty young & full of vigor.

Come his next fight, we’ll see what he still has left in his basement. :china:

Weight really didnt have THAT much of an impact this fight. Mayweather was reacting to all his shit and his punches were just too fast for Marqez. Plus Mayweathers guard is just too good, its so hard to hit between that and his reach.

It was the weight mismatch, you PBF bitches don’t want to chug down the lame ass come back. He proved to be the #1 P4P my ass, we all know he choose a lower weight fighter instead of the best fighters with in his division. That nigga ducked Mosely on camera, you can’t deny that.

the mayweather hate train is never late

Weight wasn’t the issue. Marquez was outboxed thoroughly. Look at the punch stats, Marquez threw 600 punches and landed only 60 odd. Mayweather threw less and landed about 200.

It was simply a difference in ability. It’s not like Marquez was connecting a lot of punches that were meaningless because Floyd was too big for him, he simply wasn’t landing.

Also people that say ‘‘This fight was boring’’ to me have little love and respect for the sport. It’s not often that you get to see an individual with so much natural boxing ability fight in the ring.

I guess people already forgot Marquez called him out. Geez if Mayweather didn’t fight Marquez, everyone would be on his nuts saying he ducked a fighter from lower weight class LOLOLOLOL.

Many other boxers have called him out, ODH for a rematch, Mosely. I want to see him fight the best now, i’m not saying JMM isn’t one of the best, but he has not earned the boxing media such as Pac. In order for PBF to have a legit comeback he needs to fight some one who is considered the best or is a champion, someone who’s in his platform. If he did turn down JMM for a welterweight or the current proclaimed best, Manny Pacquiao; no one would give any “he ducked a lower weight class fighter” rant.

He took the challenge of a man in a lower weight class and at the same time he didn’t by rules either. LOL@ Weight not being an issue, JMM had a few punches that hit but none of it did damage. Yes JMM was outboxed but at the same time over powered. I’m not taking anything away from Mayweathers, and i’m not saying he would have lost to JMM if he stuck with the weight rule… He dominated the match and he looked fantastic and swift, nevertheless the weight did make an issue.

Yeah I agree that he should fight the best in the division. He got a handful of people to choose from like Williams,Cotto,Pacquiao and Mosley. It would be a real shame if he didn’t.

Actually they were praising him the entire night. Calling him a superstar and saying he still has it and whatnot

The whole night I couldn’t shake the feeling that HBO and boxing must be hurting now if they actually have praise for Floyd. Usually Merchant’s old ass and Emanuel Steward’s greasy ass do not but blatantly hate.

Floyd wasn’t the crowd favorite. There was HUGE Mexican draw as usual, when one of their legends step in the ring. 35 is also very old for a boxer. 28 is pretty old for a boxer.

I agree so much with this statement.

Floyd is a very entertaining fighter to me. He whoops ass and doesn’t take hard punches at all. Think he’s only been downed once in his career, when he broke his hand.

In terms of pure boxing and technical ability, not going to get much better than Mayweather nowadays

JMM beat Pac imo anyway, not that Pac isnt good. So to me the way he beat JMM would have more affect imo. I think its a good start after a year and a halfs rest. Now is the time I would like to see Mayweather fight the others. He should probably fight em all honastly.

You’re right. I don’t have any hate on Floyd, i got over the hedge on my last post and i admit it was a fallacious comment. I did have my respect for Floyd after his match with Zab. But honestly, as great as Floyd was in this match i’m not impressed on the comeback. I wished that his comeback was with an opponent who is on straight fire with his career (Manny being that). The weight didn’t seem right either. I was excited on this match because i’ve always admired JMM’s style and he was toyed with in this match. I do think the weight issue was the biggest reason and it did look like a mismatch.

Not taking anything away from Floyd, he is still the best right now due to the undefeated streak but i want him to go against the golden opponents now.

I don’t think JMM beat Pacquiao at that rematch, it’s was a draw at close but the score was rather fair imo. I believe the question best is, “Did manny win, or was it a Draw”?

While it’s true that Marques had the greater quantity of shots on the later part of the fights; the quality of punches still goes to Manny because JMM got knocked down 3 times (it was the knockdown in the 3rd round that gave him the point advantage) at the same note, manny’s shots where hitting.

If you watched the fight again you would see that JMM almost went down 5x in that fight but fortunately his balance was supported.

Umm yeah, you don’t come back and fight Manny Pacquiao after taking a year and a half off from boxing.

JMM was a tune-up fight as well as having a big name and being a big draw since Mexican’s always support their fighters.

He really only has 2 more fights IMO and then he’s done. Sugar Shane and finally Manny

Some of y’all kill me. Do the thing where you blame it on the weight again.

If he money was 2 pounds less, do you think JMM would’ve had an easier time hitting him? He rarely did because he’s not fast/smart enough. What’s next? JMM would’ve won if his shoes were laced up better? If he would’ve drank less urine? If he wouldn’t have had those waffles for breakfast? If the sun would’ve set 30 minutes later? If Guiding Light didn’t go off for good on Friday?

 For real though, cry about it more.

  1. I do want to see him fight Cotto too… I want the next match to be Manny, i seriously do.

Moral of the story is:

Drink piss? EAT FIST?

One of the better posts in here. But a bit much on the exaggeration though :razzy:

I think Mosley is next, or at least his camp is making it seem that way.

if/when he fights and beats mosley people we’ll be talking about how PBF should stop picking on old men and should be fighting cotto since he tooled mosley in the first place.

i forget if it was in this thread or somewhere else where someone posted a chronology of threads in boxing forums listing all of the guys PBF was supposedly ducking

judah, gatti, baldomir, DLH, hatton,etc…

the best scenario for PBF to shut people up would be to have cotto destroy pacquiao and then fight cotto…money wise though, it’d be better if pac won so they could set up the superfight, but then we’d get to hear the same bitching about how PBF is picking a smaller guy again lol

Then after he beats Cotto…they’ll be like what about Margarito? He beat Cotto why he ducking Margarito? He beats Margarito…then they’ll be like he never took on Paul Williams, why he always fighting Mexican and Puerto Ricans boxers now? After that of course they’ll say he ain’t fight Shaq, DeLaHoya fought Shaq! Why you ducking Shaq for?

kanye had something to say about floyd and shane.
