I thought the message in the final episode was pretty clear…

I’m not saying S3 didn’t have any messages. In fact the final episode wasn’t bad because it lacked a message. It was bad because it was unfunny and pretty boring.
I think McGruders purpose of the final episode was to point out a message, rather than purely entertain. Like most Episodes that revolve around Huey generally do and why it was the last episode…
The last episode of the season was supposed to be the fried chicken flu, not the 24-ish episode (it was the 5th). Look on [as]'s schedule, you can see for yourself:

You could probably google cache the tv schedule from the adult swim website, it has the episode codes on it.
They had the real episode numbers listed on wikipedia before but someone modified them to all be in order of airing.
