Oh hey, look. There’s two new cabs in my house. How you doin, new cabs?
Lucky bastard.
As for BBCS, all that DLC is turning it into a money pit. Though I guess this is the future of things. Probably won’t pick that up.
yeah, that’s ****ing stupid. 80 bucks for the finished game essentially.
that’s why you just don’t buy it lol.
Makoto’s just the new carl. Nothing to do with the girl except the Parry cancel loop.
who cares about Val and loligirl platnium. The game’s not providing Kokonoe as a playable character so I don’t have a reason to pay for overpriced characters. Only way they’re actually making money off this is because anime kids will be quick to spend money on them and say “well 8 bucks isn’t much.”
I’m more against it on principle. PC games do stuff like this all the time, but at least you get something for it.
I don’t mind it when it actually makes sense. but half of the DLC out in general are a problem.
…
Is that confusing? Paying for extra content is nothing new in general, however it is new for consoles.
On the PC side periodic content can be pricey, but it tends to add something to the experience. Large map packs, in some cases it’s enough for the game to be entirely different. It usually shoves out well into the game and is enough to breath new life into it or make it a completely different game.
Trickling out a little tid bits right after the game is released just smacks of blatant money grab and that they knew they couldn’t sell the product for what they wanted to ask for me.
It just seems to be that you don’t get your moneys worth out of DLC on consoles and it’s a new trend. I know many companies have been complaining about games costing way too much to make vs return, this is probably their way of getting ahead.
I’d say as far as fighting games go new characters are the equivalent of a map pack.
Well, two things about DLC in CS:
They aren’t things that were already on the disc and they’re just making you pay to access.
They didn’t make the characters beforehand then go GIHIHI NOW TO HOLD THEM BACK AND MAKE $$$. Although I don’t see what’s so wrong about compensating them for the work they put into adding new material to the game. When they make games they already have a set release date for the most part, so they just make what they can and then whatever else they want to do is usually cut out and left to be developed for the sequel. In this case, they finished CS; the game is already a complete package. But they didn’t want to stop there and wanted to add some more characters that would maintain interest in the game. That’s why they’re trickling them out one at a time, and also it takes time to make them since they’re being made as we speak.
Considering how much work it takes to make a character in a 2D fighter (much more than 3D where you just make the 3D character and reposition them for movement instead of making an entirely new sprite out of scratch), I don’t see what the problem is with them asking for a little bit of money, and it’s only like $7. Each character is like 1000+ sprites, that’s completely separately made drawings, plus the music, plus the character concept and balancing. I know if I made that much stuff, I would ask for a lot more than $7.
And it’s not like you have to buy it if you don’t think it’s worth it, anyway. It’s just an extra something for people who are interested, like having cable and then getting HBO on top of it.
At this point, it’s more of the developers abusing the fact current gen consoles are basically computers so they use that as a way to release a game then either do add ons or lock things up and release later.
if I had to wait a few more months and pay $60 for Mak/Val/Plat, I would’ve done it. At least I wouldn’t have to spectulate if it’s a unlock key or not even after developers say otherwise. I just feel if they’re going to release the characters as DLC 1 week after the american release (and what…2-3 weeks after Japanese release) and Europe’s getting Makoto on the disc, they’ed be better off just holding out on the game and adding everyone in and charging $60.
actually i’m sure that’s where most of the hate for DLC comes from. Either it being overpriced, unlock keys, or just downright stupid and unneeded. I wouldn’t mind most DLC so much if it wasn’t such a business decision to have them priced at a certain point then forcing us to buy a $20 point card or 2 $5 points through live just to have enough for the extra 50.
I just hate micro transactions.:shake:
Yeah…i pretty much agree with this…100%
I’m cool with additional characters or alternate costumes for DLC, but costume colors? What the fuck?
5 bucks for palette swaps is some BS, especially since games like CvS2 had the ability to do it yourself built in.
fuck you blazpoo fanboys
meetup sat?
If something is happening on the 21st (Saturday) I will most likely be there!
EVERYONE GO!
