Did someone say HnK?
Good choice, Bobby. The Atomiswave is even more hassle-free to swap games than the Neo Geo; no external power source necessary unlike that nasty Naomi. Most games are dirt-cheap too (HNK still goes for a bit more I think). I’ve got the games that never received ports: The Rumble Fish 2, Demolish Fist, Knights of Valour The Seven Spirits, and Dolphin Blue. Each cost me $60-80 and aside from Rumble Fish 2, which was a nice deal, that’s the normal price (if not a few bucks on the high end).
There’s a guy in MD who has the Hokutonoken Atomiswave game but only on supergun (and that’s how MD got good at HNK with daily practice sessions). I could bring my carts sometime if you get an Atomiswave (or even the whole motherboard itself for a test run but you’ll need to eventually have the harness wiring down for the 5th button).
Yo i’m seriously Down for Rumble Fish 2. Playing a bit of 1 and watching vids of 2 makes me wish they made a port for it.
It’s funny that even an original copy of the PS2 port of The Rumble Fish doesn’t work via Swap Magic (at least not 3.3), presumably because of some funky TOC. You need a JP system to play it (or maybe a later swap disc).
Oh, and a warning: as with many cart systems in an attempt to get you to buy full sets, if you power up the Atomiswave motherboard with another cart, all your memory is cleared out for the original game (including unlockables). Just something to maybe keep in mind.
yeea I found this out the hard way when I burned the copy only to find out it just sits there. I’ve been pretty salty about that up to this day and seeing Devil Jin holdin a copy last week at a session wasn’t helpin.
That’s the only thing holding me back, is that I’d have to make a cabinet dedicated to Atomiswave. The games are pretty cheap, and there’s a nice selection of stuff (KoF XI, NGBC, HNK, RF2, SS6) but I’d pretty much have to give up a cab (lol, 11 cabs still don’t seem like enough!)
Yeah it looks really, really fun. I’m a shameless garnet fan.
wait, so people practiced HnK before? lol
I thought it would be something tourney players would stay away from because of the godlike fatal KOs
i use to practice when it first came out. but then i stopped playing for a month or something, and then all the combos were gone and i was like, well you’re on your own jeremy
were there tournaments, though?
I remember seeing tournaments for HnK but…not for long.

Ahhh its a school night for me… Oh well.
who is going today?
I am for sure.
No seriously, like I’m already here and shit.
Also, picked up super… it’s like the same game + dudley.
which turns it from 2/10 to a 4/10.
Maybe super sf 4 turbo will have alex and become a 6/10 game?
Also the main menu picture looks like Ryu and Ken are about to kiss.
I hit enter a lot.
I’m probably going today… but I don’t want to go by myself unless Bobby has online, then I don’t really care who shows up.
Definately have online… I can’t imagine anyone who doesn’t
You forget all the GG players lol.
MDVA is USA champs of HnK that last time it was at a major or something.
Then I will gladly boost your Akuma rankings free of charge.
Would be nice, since I’m gonna want to see some Akuma (character I’m going to try and learn in super)
fffffffffffffffffff
just remembered I have a paper/presentation due thursday… If I don’t pull through today and you’re doing something Saturday I’ll try to come then.
