Andrew: U picked up on everything quite well from what I was teaching u last week, so nicely done my good sir. Let me know if u have any questions on anything w/ Alisa. I’ll be more than happy 2 help ya out 2 the best of my abilities.
I did pretty damn well up in MOK in Iowa. I got 3rd in Tekken (lost 2 Tick in Winner’s Finals & Trey Phoenix in Loser’s Finals), & I got 4th in Mortal Kombat. Overall I did pretty great & played hella solid. I still messed up against Tick during the tourney though. I do great against him in casuals, but I mess shit up everytime I have 2 play him in a tourney. I did use ur strategy against him Josh, but 4 whatever reason I was trading half the time w/ Lili’s d3&4 against a lot of the Baek goodness. Weird, but I guess I gotta time things better. Haha. There were a lot of solid players there 4 Tekken, so this made me very happy. I also defeated Mateo 4 the 1st time during tourney play, so that was hella awesome 4 me. Also, the matches that Trey Phoenix & I had during the Loser’s Finals were insanely good. Came down 2 the last match, last round. Shit was 2 solid. I can’t wait 4 the match vids of that & other matches 2 be posted up by Xiang.
Josh: I also put in my application 4 being an Alisa mod in the TTT2 forums on TZ. Hopefully I can get moderator spot on there 4 that. Also, I saw that u got that Senior Mod spot there on TZ. Congrats on that Josh, u definately deserve that shit my good sir.
I was about to write a PM to Castel for the recommendation, but I had realized that you had never posted in Alisa forum, lol. I have a feeling that you won’t be getting the position because of that. However, if you start working on helping kids there in the future, I’d say that the chance of you becoming Alisa mod in the future is very high.
And about Lili’s d+3+4… well, let me see if I can find the post I wrote in lili thread.
Josh: I was thinking I might not get the Alisa mod spot due 2 that specific reason u mentioned. I guess I’ll have 2 work on it if I want that moderator duty.
Also, thanks 4 the heads up on what moves I can avoid w/ Baek due 2 Lili’s d3&4. Hope those match vids Xiang recorded are posted up soon.
Sorry 4 the double post, but here is a link 2 the VGF Youtube page that has a good amount of the matches in Tekken that took place @ MOK. It has my Winner’s Finals set in there against Tick & my Loser’s Finals set in there against Trey Phoenix. They’re not the 1st batch of vids on there, but if u click “See All” on the match vid side bar, it’ll bring those matches up right away. Enjoy.
I saw you did only a few d+3+4’s, and one was after your attack. Tick did so many cancels (and his style is definitely not the same as how I played), and every single cancels = free d+3+4. You could have launched him 400 times!!!
After 6 hit combos, you get free i12.
Other than that, once you read through that post, believe me, you will know why Baek is free for Lili. (ugh)
Josh: Damnit! I guess I should have asked 4 a more thorough explanation of when 2 do my d3&4s against Baek w/ Lili. So after FSC & any of those moves u put in that post on TZ, it is lauch time I guess. Now I understand. That’s ashame that I didn’t apply the strategy thoroughly, but now I know, so next time I will be ready 4 all that Baek trickery. Thanks 4 the info Josh.
Andrew: Ur actually right about more hopkicks from Alisa. How Trey was playing me, he was low poking the shit outta me, so crushing him would have done me good. However, if u haven’t noticed already (which I’m pretty sure u probably have), I play a very safe & patient style of Tekken & I don’t like 2 take a whole lot of unnecessary risks if I don’t feel they’d be in my favor (more often than not me anticipating things always seems 2 come back & bite me in the ass), so that’s y I don’t like 2 hopkick as much as most players do. Giving my opponent a free punisher from a WS move @ 12 frames & then putting my opponent in2 an advantageous situation is something I try 2 avoid as much as possible. Fuck…I turtle way 2 damn much!
HAHA, no problems, Mike. The whole “dish out d+3+4” definitely goes against your tekken principle. I’d say that it would still be very hard for you to force urself to apply it next time, even after a thorough walk-through we may have in the future.
(oh and, just checked w/ Kane. Apparently he also used the strat and abuse d+3+4 against Baek, Drag, and others, lol)
Josh: Ur most certainly correct my good sir. Throwing out moves in Tekken goes against everything I stand for in the game. Hahaha. However, I am a big fan of assimilation of things that work in Tekken, & the proof is in the pudding if Kane applies this strategy as well against certain characters & certain situations, so I’d be willing 2 let my Tekken ethics falter a lil’ bit if I can adapt that gameplan in2 my game as well. We will work on this whenever I get a chance 2 head back 2 Bloomington 2 play u guys. This will be a must 4 sure.
Andrew: All’s good & thank u my good sir. However, I do concur that it would have helped me 2 do this in that match set against Trey w/out a doubt.
@Slusho I go down to Bloomington on a pretty regular basis, so if you wanted we could meet up and I’ll teach ya some Jammage. If you can make it up to Arsenal Games in Indy, there’s a decent community of people that go on Mondays and Fridays. I’m trying to corral all the gear players together so we can actually have a group.
Anyone else that wants to learn GG, I’m more than willing to teach. I will teach just to have more people to play, and the game is damn fun.
