Bloody-Knuckles: The "Main Event" featuring TW Season 1 Finals 2/28/2010 3:00pm

Here’s some incentive to get some of you to come out and help set up. We’re going to dim sum beforehand. And if you agree to come out and help set up and take down, I might buy your dim sum and some drinks that night.

Coming from Portland, but it looks like I found a ride.

I’m good at running brackets, and can help out with anything else you need, too.

I’ll be there Sunday afternoon. Most likely before 3pm if I can find it. lol.

I have a CAR. It has no MUSIC. I will be transporting my STICK. If you can find space in a Toyota Cressida with that in mind, I’ll cart your ass up there, but I’ll probably be leaving after the finals. Well, WAAY after the finals. I wanna chill with people.

And yeah, I’ll help out if I get there early enough.

i’ll probably be there early to set up and shit and yes i invited about 250 people don’t know how many are coming though haha but dave if you get the chance PM the info for what we need to do to help or just post it on the thread

for pre-event help I need

people to move tables around
setup gaming stations
secure extension cords so people don’t trip over them
load up xbox save files from mem cards
test everything out before doors open @ 3:00

during the event help

people to work the front door (collect cover and tourney buy-in fees)
someone who is good with TIO!!!
do basic cat herding, ie, if you see someone doing something stupid, tell them it’s stupid and to knock the shit off
make sure nobody is being a jerk
pick up empties that haven’t made it to the trash

after the event
pack up all setups and electronics, make sure that any loaned hardware/software gets back to it’s owner
put tables back where they go
clean up any trash

so a couple reminders

COVER
there is a $5.00 cover, this does not include any tourney fees, tourney buy-ins are $5.00 for each event. I’m really sorry I had to do this cover thing but it’s the only way I could make this happen. but there are some really nice prizes on the line (all of which I funded since capcom are jerks) and I’m trying to get some more.
buy-in fees are due WHEN YOU SIGN UP! please don’t come to the sign up table and not have you money ready I don’t have the time to try and track people down. there are ATMs all over the ID! better yet just grab a $20 on your way and enter all three of the big events.

this is a bring your own stick event! I only have two PS3 sticks available. setups will be a mix of PS3 and 360 (there may even be some PS2 and DC). I’ll try and keep SFIV on the 360’s, tekken and BB on the PS3s. if you have extra sticks you can loan for general use please bring them. I will have somewhere between 6-10 setups (depending on who flakes out)

SFIV finals for singles and TWs will be on 360
Tekken will be PS3
BB:CS will be either PC or the cabinet

if there is interest in HDR or MvC2 we’ll get something going on that too

MONEY MATCHES
talk to me first and keep the term “money match” on the down low. the venue is already a little sketchy about the potential gambling aspect. please do not MM during the singles tourney or the TW finals.

There are NO “money matches” anymore. There are small invitation-only tournaments.

You think I’m kidding but I’m not.

I’ll be up there Saturday, so hopefully you won’t have a problem with me getting in there quite a bit early to set up and test to make sure everything is running hot and smooth

probably should have mentioned time…

I will be meting the event manager at the venue at noon.

this is what the place looks like from the street, though I’ll try and remember to get the sandwich board out as soon as I get there.

as pat said the plan is to get there, get mostly setup then go grab some dim sum and be back before doors are to open.

Can’t believe I forgot to request this day off >_<

So uh.

I’m pretty damn good with Tio. I’ll run brackets for ya, no prob.

Oh yeah, and Gambling is Bad?. I’m down for small, invitation-only mini-tournaments though. I think if we can get a few two-man brackets running with a decent entry fee, there’d be mad hype.

I’m not the boss around here, but I do know that there is already a TON of things on David’s itinerary (TW Finals for both SF4 and T6, performer, video, Singles Tournaments, etc.). Hit him up and maybe you can get at this idea of yours.

BREAKING NEWS!!!

this just in, Toodles has donated a couple ChImp boards as prizes for the singles tourneys. so I can now offer free dual mod service as a prizes!

just in case you have no idea what I’m talking about. this man is amazing!!!

thinking about coming through, anyone wanna MM in sf4? I’m hella free trust

I don’t know if this’ll help at all but the front of the building is yellow and the entrance is actually not right on the street. The building used to be an old mechanics garage and was converted to a museum in the 80’s and then converted again into an art gallery just 2 years ago so the driveway on the street will lead you into the entrance of the building.

How about Parking though?

it’s sunday, parking is free all day everywhere, BUT. it’s also dim sum sunday so it can be pretty packed down in the ID. king street under I5 is usually a good spot.

David,

Please consider something different with the music for the Main Event. People should chime in here if they agree/disagree, but I was not feelin the music that the DJ was playing…at all. Maybe it switched up after I left (1/2 way thru I got next) but all up until the movie started it was killin me and the vibe in my opinion. Too loud and no groove. I know you may have been catering to the art guys…but it’s got to be a balance i think. For me anything with a beat would be nice. I’m not picky, but nonstop anti-christian garage death punk metal was a little too much for me.

Not tryin to be a complainer, but I thought I should say something. I heard numerous comments/complaints that night.

Will there be Cher? LoL sorry, couldn’t resist, but hopefully music is good but not so painful during the tournaments

I’ve said it before the music at the opening was sorta my bad, Matt asked me what to play and I said “something that makes you want to punch someone on the face”. I think he took me a little too literally. and though I do have a soft spot for death metal I think it was a little too much" I’ve got the music under control for the main event, my friend jeff is working on something special mix wise, and yes it should be more palatable to the masses. if it’s not he’ll be there and you’re free to kick him in the nuts.

if anybody knows a DJ that is available on super short notice and will work for cheaper then free speak up.

Haha. Ok. Sounds like it’s all good. Thank for listening.
