I hope there are fewer weapons but all of them are useful instead of the typical Igavania design of having tons of stuff and most of it being useless.

I actually loved the perhaps excessive number of weapons.

It made the good ones feel meaningful.

And it was a GREAT feel, when you found out that seeming trash was not actually trash, after all.

Eeeh…I guess. I mean I can see the appeal, but I hate having an inventory full of garbage, or finding something new and looking at its stats and seeing its dog shit compared to the thing I found 3 hours ago. That’s really frustrating imo. I think having good weapons makes those weapons meaningful.

But I see where you are coming from, and yea it’s cool to figure out trash isn’t actually trash, but that’s kind of rare.

Those legit trash weaker weapons do serve to scratch that 100% completionist collector’s itch of mine, though.

Or 200.6% completion, as were.

The key is making it so that you don’t just stumble into good weapons easily, so you don’t get good stuff early on.

I think that’s a terrible reason to fill a game with crap items. Having a good weapon early on will not kill a game if the balance isn’t shit.

well IGAvania loot wouldn’t be as interesting if it was all junk, or all OP.

Metroid games have effecient loot, though it’s too minimal and simplistic to stay interesting.

and some like to do challenge runs with weak gear. if all the loot was good, people would complain the gear are just reskins, lol.
they want stat differences, though the double edged sword of that is inferior gear and eventually OP gear.

It’s okay guys, I am sure the strongest weapon is going to be a shield.

I think it’s that beyond a certain level, the enemies are merely speedbumps for Alucard. If the enemy AI in SoTN was like it is in OoE, it probably would balance out good weapons, even early game.

As long as there isn’t too many long ass hallways or empty rooms I’m good

and one of the most interesting ones imo. Love the fact that every shield has it’s own effect.

SoTN had so much cool crap in it, I still learn new things about it every now and then lol

I’m almost starting to dislike Iga, because he made the main character a waifu, which in turn made Affinity crawl up in this thread.

There’s no way to escape from affinity.
