Obviously the experience is one thing
But you can buy powerful weapons
You can buy skill point to open up space to put more abilities on Your character.
These are tangible things
You wont be able to bridge the gap between someone whos like level 15 or so
but buying catalysts and other items can expedite the process
perhaps a better example is blacklight retribution
where you can be basic infantry
or pay the money to rent out a mobile suit
Mcree fares much better vs reinhardt than 76. Flashbang over the shield will stun, 1st fan will take off half his health guaranteed, combat roll to his left, right or behind to finish him off but not 100% guaranteed, depending on his reactions. However of course if thereās a team behind the reinhardt then Mcree of course canāt just walk up and hope to live after throwing a grenade without some assistance.
Junkrat gets to do a similar trick with conc mine over the shield to bounce him straight up or forward and up. 76 and Mcree are both quite strong and you canāt really go wrong with picking either of them unless your team is seriously lacking a role, but iāll throw something down below.
Hereās some interesting data, this site compiled all the character usage for all the (Closed Beta) competitive/tournament matches since the last major patch in april. As a note the competitive meta HEAVILY favors certain characters and they often fluctuate wildly per week since the start of closed beta, but this is whatās being used consistently as of April. All of it is raw data.
These are the chances of them showing up on either team
Those a bit below 50% are simply niche and have specific parts of the map where theyāre utilized, or have specific comps where theyāre strong in. Those approaching 100% are general use and often good with most setups/maps. Then thereās characters like lucio/mcree where they were heavily favored by all these players so sometimes you get to see 2 of them in the same team on top of the near guaranteed pick rate. Donāt think iād disagree with double lucio on King of the Hill maps lol. Those at the bottom as in those sitting at the 10% margin , very rarely get picked.
Check the site, the article is quite in depth. Covered character usage on the specific maps, and more.
Not surprised at Lucio being highly used at KOTH. Speed buff basically means that whoever has him on the team gets the early cap. I other words, if youāre playing KOTH and you donāt have Lucio on your team (and youāre not the tank), switch to Lucio.
If you check their previous data since closed beta, it has remained that way for quite a long time, with maybe the exception of the time where Blizzard experimentally gave Mei a heavy overall combat buff to her alt fire which they later gave her fall off damage afterwards.
Youād have a hard time finding a mei, with the exception of the last point of a Dorado match where she does get some use. Alternatively this is where D.va often gets used too aside for being a panic switch to contest a payload/capture point. Iām not too big of a fan of watching competitive overwatch aside from a certain team featuring Seagull. The double mcrees do get old pretty fast.
You can however argue that this a much smaller sample size, with the whole game being live and open to the public. So more teams to sign up to compete.
KOTH often have these conveniently positioned pits of death where lucios can easily get a kill on with a knockback. Itās a pretty horrible feeling getting pushed off a bridge to your death by a Lucio from around the corner.
He used to be sitting at where mei/hanzo is right now until Seagull brought up this strategy to the meta and his team started winning with it. So now heās being used occasionally, and thatās exactly what it shows on that chart. No one found a game winning strategy with mei along the lines of Bastion/Reinhardt/Mercy, nor have they found any particularly good use of her toolset YET.
But these are the figures as of now. Mei has yet to be proven useful to the current double mcree meta aside from very specific points of a map but perhaps later will. Blizzard again is known to drastically buff/nerf characters into oblivion, Zenyatta is probably the biggest example where he went from 100% pickrate to where he is now after his nerf (within a months span). So expect something like that sometime soon and a good possibility for the meta to flip upside down. On top of the likely release of a new support.
Yeah she hides it cause of the skirt thing, but she is not lacking in that dept. Maybe isnāt the head manager, but she holds an important position in the ass dept.
Reinhardt is the epitome of MANLINESS, HONOUR AND GLORY. I fucking love him, been consistently getting MVP medals with him too usually getting 90%+ of the match on fire. His charge is likeā¦the most fun Iāve had in an FPS in a long time, charge the opposing tank/healer and expose the backline to damage.
Between Reinhardt/McCree/Hanzo Iām barely touching the rest of the cast atm, I havenāt had enough playtime with everybody yet to decide who I really like playing but Iām sticking to the character design more than the toolset.
