(Yeah, I don’t think anyone really cares that Yammy was a jobber as #0, especially since that theory started off as a joke. That said, it would have been nice for Chad, Rukia, and Renji [and Uryuu?] to at least not get KO’d off-screen against him, especially since Yammi then promptly got utterly destroyed by the overkill that was Byakuya and Kenpachi.)
Memes about Aizen’s supposed infallibility aside, I’ll readily accept that he’s behind this entire thing still considering he apparently lost with the Ho Ho Q even only to the Final Getsuga Ichigo because he wanted to lose…or something. So somehow him being behind the whole Fullbring thing to get Ichigo’s powers back and then behind Juha Bach’s revival to cripple Soul Society & further cripple Yamamoto wouldn’t really surprise at this point just because of what a huge Villain (Mary) Sue he already is.
I’m not sure what bothers you when it’s one of the few things that make sense in this series, especially when most shonen are focused on abilities that are totally independent from muscular power. Generally in shonen manga, if anyone who is muscular shows up whose muscles actually mean something, then they’ll be on the bad guy side since they’ll be more visually intimidating. Even then, they’ll be a relatively minor villain or, at least, they won’t be the “big bad”. The only exception I can think of here is Younger Toguro in Yu Yu Hakusho.

I liked him on the second read through because he had the most logical approach to following Aizen IMO…he hated it the entire time, he was biding his time. Arrancars are sposeta be hollows, and shinigami kill hollows…then this shinigami lookin nigga shows upa nd bosses him around, and everyone else is cool with it. barragan is like “wtf, i was a GOD and now im listening to some dopey lookin muhfucka” >:( id be pissed too

I don’t know. Even his background was kinda generic due to essentially just being “evil king dude of Hueco Mundo” who didn’t have any actual ambitions beyond that for some reason despite the fact that he was supposedly unchallenged long enough to consider having half of his minions fight to the death for the hell of it. When combined with the fact that he had stupidly broken death powers and should have been able to open Gargantuas like any Hollow above a Menos, the fact that he stayed under Aizen seemingly the longest of any of the Arrcancar just makes it seem like he was the most whipped. Most of the other Arrcancar at least were either out-and-out loyal to Aizen (Ulquiorra, Zommari, surprisingly Aaroneiro) or were scheming behind his back (Nnoitra, Grimmjow, Syzael). Hell, Grimmjow and eventually Halibel were openly defiant to to Aizen’s face–Grimmjow repeatedly–even if it got both of them nowhere.
I still stay Starrk has the most understandable background: he simply didn’t want to be lonely anymore. That’s a lot more understandable than Barragan being understandably pissed about things but just sitting there and essentially taking it for however many years since he had no ambitions despite his power. This is even more underlined since Starrk was rather open about his reluctance, whereas Barragan might have grimaced, but still said “how high?”
Meh. I just feel like all Barragan had going for him was having cool name and character design even pre-release. It also doesn’t help that much of my dislike for him also comes from him doing that asspull–forgive me, Hecatom/Rodimus!–“Ten Aspects of Death” thing in the middle of his battle with Soi Fon after being in Hueco Mundo for years IRL before and having it never come up.

Hunh. “North” was just…his attack as a projectile wave of incineration? Kinda underwhelming, though at the same time I did say was tired of him getting pointless upgrades and it’s pretty damn effective, so I ultimately won’t complain.

Even if Yamamoto’s conjecture that “Juha Bach” couldn’t steal his Bankai because he didn’t know its limits is correct, then he just showed all directions (for no damn reason) to what was probably a fake body at this point given those last words. Ironically, this was arguably foreshadowed with that stupidly named Loyd Lloyd–“The Yourself” guy–that Kenpachi killed off-screen being able to transform into other people. Now that the real Juha knows everything about his Bankai…
…Of course, the limitation thing seems like bullshit depending on where they got their intel, especially since they stole Hyouinmaru despite most of Hitsugaya’s shtick being that he has a lot of potential that he still needs to grow into.
Anyway, Yamamoto’s about to get Mugged hard, complete with Thief’s Gloves and Back Attack.
