I guess the whole point of this flashback is to provide clarity, but why is being a quincy suddenly blood line dependant? I mean Arrancar can be trained for it. And, if it is genetic in humans, why are they so wasteful with their troops?
Now i’m just wondering if the Quincies that attacked Soul Society were pure bloods or the rejects/mixed bloods. It makes me think that the maid chick might be Urryu’s mom and Kubo can use that as an excuse for him jobbing so bad since he isnt pure blood.

(I see Urahara and co. having to save Isshin’s ass here for reasons that Ivy’s Lover mentioned unless Ryuuken is just that powerful, in which case…holy shit. Regardless, Masaki will obviously show up after this, with the Hollow having actually done next to nothing to Isshin.
As for why Isshin didn’t tell anyone, there’s nothing to say he didn’t try…if he even gets to go back to Soul Society after this. It’s just…it would probably fall on literally deaf ears because…Aizen. Honestly, I doubt he’s going to get go back to Soul Society at all because he’d probably just get framed or be charged with [read: framed for] some other executable-offense.

Yeah, Uryuu being “mixed-blood” isn’t an excuse, at least not completely, since Ichigo’s also mixed blood and I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if some of the Vanderreich was either since, despite the Nazi visuals, Bach hasn’t really said anything about “purity” so far. Hell, he’s outright interested in Ichigo, who’s even more of “mutt” than Uryuu.

Uryuu just sucks, partly because as revealed by the Vanderreich simply showing up, he’s still using mid-tier-at-best Quincy techniques. You know how Kierge’s–or whatever the name of the guy probably-Grimmjow finally sliced in half is–most basic technique was basically absorbing spirit particles for a huge power boost? How that basically seems to be most basic technique all of the Vanderreich are using?
That’s the same power-up that caused Uryuu to lose his powers way back when he (barely) beat Mayuri.
Uryuu just needs to level up his game big time because, compared to the Vandereich, he’s basically just barely breaking into the double-digits while everyone on Team Bach is basically at Lv. 99 or more already.
TL;DR: Uryuu just sucks; being mixed blood is no excuse.
Funny you mentioned Yamamoto since literally the first thing when I saw Isshin’s “Burn!” release was “…Wow, no wonder he acts like a slacker. He got stuck with a fire-type release when Yamamoto is already confirmed as the strongest fire-type alive? That must suck.”
At least that means he and Rukia & Isane have some common ground since the latter two have to deal with being canonically inferior to Icefail.

As for Isshin’s fire Shikai, is funny because I always preferred Rukia’s Shikai ice powers in comparison to Hitsugaya’s even if he achieved Bankai.
Now that Hitsugaya doesn’t have Bankai powers anymore and Rukia is in the Royal Realm…if Rukia doesn’t level up to Bankai, she will be a forever scrub.

I thought Ishin would have powers similar to Ichigo - some ambiguous force that he can manipulate (like some light source). It’d make him seem OP and the hollow side manipulates it into what we see Ichigo as now.

Pretty much. Ever since Ichigo finally bopped Aizen (this exchange in particular), it’s seemed like the series has been converging to a point that puts Ichigo in the position to make some kind of grand decision between the Urahara option (relative peace, order, and continuation of the status quo) and the Aizen option (upheaval of the system to achieve his own set of ideals). Depending on how the royal guard and quincy war shit actually pans out, I wouldn’t be surprised if the latter came to pass.
I’ve been enjoying the last few chapters, sans the typical glacial pace of Bleach.
