Blade of the immortal

is Air Gear still good? I need to catch up on that also and just constantly reading stuff on Wiki from time to time doesn’t cut it. Plus the powerups actually makes sense in that manga.

HELL NO cause Oh Great does that, and none of his stuff never ends like it starts. Tenjo Tenge transformed into some unneccessary freaky shit midway into it, and skipping ahead to a random 200+ chapter in Air Gear it looks like he does the same thing. I don’t wanna deal with that right now lol.

And I do read Kenichi and BotI too. Gotta catch up on Immortal though, anyone know a good site online that’s up to date on the chapters?

Blade of the immortal

And I think Unixmanga is the only site with scanlations past like, 150

EDIT: Nevermind looks like they’re back at 146 like everywhere else

Wait, hold up. So you mean when Kubo said Arrancar arc ending in mid 2010, to be followed by a shorter arc and then a much longer arc, that means…

Arrancar arc = Espada dead, Aizen owns everyone
Shorter arc = Hallway of Spirit and Time BS
Much longer arc = prolonged Aizen smirkage

…Oh God.

Hasn’t Berzerk been around forever? Like since the late 1980s?

Regardless, as for quitting the manga, I’m pretty sure I can do it. I haven’t read Naruto since I quit a year or so ago. I’ve visited the thread a couple of times just to see people’s reactions to things and sure I’ve seen a few new panels when people linked to them, but that’s because of what I said earlier: SRK is more fun and entertaining than either of these manga.

I did drop my subscription to the Naruto thread, so I’m contemplating unsubscribing to this one, at least to ween myself off and help catch up with other manga like Claymore, FMA, a bunch of things Stabby recommended and Negima.

I have no idea what the hell you’re talking about here.

Yeah, I can see Kubo trolling us with a technicality, which is part of what annoys me.

I still don’t see why people want to know what happened to Yammy: He’s trash and he doubtless died since he was getting his ass handled effortlessly before we even cut away with Mayuri being right there, ready to jump in before he got too large.

We disagree again. Not surprising. I honestly used to think that Bleach was better than Naruto until like a year ago when I realized that Bleach has almost zero internal consistency on top of all its other problems (pacing, lazy art, idiotic fights, Aizen being God, etc.).

As for quitting back at either of those points, Barragan and Kaname were ALWAYS going to die. Yeah, Barragan got particularly jobbed (all the top three Espada did, though Halibel and Starrk could possibly still be alive-ish). Yeah, Kaname jobbed and died way sooner than I expected, but so far the Bleach bad guys that were Hollows have gotten owned, so it didn’t exactly break trends.

As for Yoruichi and Urahara getting OHKO’d off screen, meh. Kubo was so obvious with making it so that Ichigo would be forced to bullshit Aizen later on that there wasn’t any suspense after that chapter where Urahara first appeared and he & Aizen said “Just as planned” at each other the entire time.

That’s part of the reason why I have no interest in it: There’s no suspense in it anymore, which is ironic considering that unlike a lot of other main characters, Ichigo CAN die technically (and has done so twice already, haha weak bastard).

The characters are flat and uninteresting. Things get drawn out forever needlessly. Stupid decisions are made constantly, as seen with Captain “I’ll just float here and watch Golden Girls” Yamamoto among other things. Even the “hook” for most people of shikai and bankai have been conspicuously absent.

I will. I have selected C-Groove in order to get the fuck out of here.

Worse comes to worse, I’ll just Phoenix Down this Phantom Train like Aizen did.

I believe I’ve only been reading Bleach for, what, three years? You know why I’ve been doing that most of the time? Because it’s there.

That shouldn’t be the reason to read anything. Even if it only takes three minutes, it’s mostly constantly been a waste of three minutes outside of that chapter where Hinamori got the fuck stabbed out of her; that will always be awesome.

Oh Hera, we agree on something. I’m not sure how to feel about this.

Read Hajime no Ippo.

Ippo has its bullshit as well, so beware.

I’m up to date. It would take the #5 spot if Magician and Woli didn’t leave such a bad taste in my mouth

RE: Ep 275…

Skeletor is up in this bitch!! That is all.

-Starhammer-

I still say Barragan shits all over stark.

I haven’t seen the bleach anime in a loooooong time. What episodes are non-filler?

THe last like 6. 269 - 275 right now.

Has up to 148

Berserk started in 1989 IIRC, same year as Hajime no Ippo. For anyone that hasn’t read it, I highly recommend it.

No one catch up in Gantz if you quit before. The downhill slope on that is steeper than Naruto or Bleach, which is sad because of how amazing it was.

Top manga in japan going by sales is something like…

  1. One Piece 2-3 million per volume in sales weekly
  2. FMA 1.5-2 million per volume, (monthly series and now completed)
  3. Naruto 1-1.5 million per volume
4/5. Hunter x Hunter and Evangelion which are a bit over 1 million each, but neither series has a set release
  4. Bleach is a little under a million per volume

Claymore sells about 3-400k, IIRC, but I haven’t seen anything on it in a while since it comes out monthly. Berserk sells less than that, but not poorly.
There are some series for girls in there, I think coming between FMA and Naruto, and some other spaces too-- but series for girls are typically only released a chapter a month, and women like to buy dumb shit.

HxH is a steep wall (since the first 20-25 chapters are, to be perfectly honest, boring), but then it gets good, stays good and is the best of the series running in Jump. Only reason it isn’t as popular is because of the lengthy author breaks.

Oh, and

If you like reading your manga online you might want to read/catch up on things that you’ve been putting off since the big online reader sites are probably going to be shut down soon. Onemanga is definitely being targeted, as well as mangafox (which is run by shady chinese types)

Lastly, on the actual subject of Bleach–

It takes from 30 seconds to 1 minute to read a chapter of this series. The most it gets out of me now is a “lol _________”, with the blank being filled by the subject of the chapter, my latest being “lol hyperbolic time chamber”. Bleach isn’t a series that you can look at and make sense of, because there is no sense there. The fights don’t matter because none of them make any sense. As bad as Naruto is, even if the sharingan makes you so angry, you can at least grudgingly admit that it followed some kind of logic.

What was the last fight in Bleach that made any type of sense?
Urahara, Isshin, Yorouchi verus Aizen?
Everyone else versus Aizen?
Stark jobbing?
Aizen killing Halibel for some reason?
Barragan dying because ???
Yammy fight still going?
Mayuri, Renji and other guy fighting that one Espada?

Discussion of Bleach is more like laughing about a than it is talking about a legitimate series.

Damn, this sucks. I hope this means that they will actually translate and sell stuff like HnI in North America.

Great artwork, epic battle + very very good stories (Every arc is good, some arcs are freaking awesome). Grand battles…just go read it.

So this means we’ll either be SOL on manga never brought over here or be stuck reading manga in the bookstores?

I honestly wouldn’t mind as much if publishers actually grabbed good manga.

Ugh.

Nothing has made since from the moment Hitsu muttered something about the so-called “Vasto Lordes.”

Actually, let me rephrase that. It’s not that nothing has made sense since then. It’s that everything that seemed like it was making sense when the Espada were introduced (or at least starting to make sense) has been continually and deliberately invalidated by the events that followed it.

Er, wait. “It’s not that nothing has made sense since then.” Dammit. That doesn’t sound right either. It’s like?how to put it?he wrote out a bunch of details that made sense and had them hanging out there for a while like a ripe Fruit of Coherency, but then what he actually showed was a series of nonsensical bites being taken out of said fruit; gradually depriving his original idea of any sense it had initially.

Bleach’s problem during this entire Vizard/Espada/Arrancar/Hueco Mundo/Fake Town/God Aizen storyline is that everything has made less and less sense as the events played out because he deviated from what was originally a more coherent theme.

We all saw it with Hitsu getting worked vs. Luppi, and then Hitsu randomly doing well vs. Shark Face Tits. None of that made sense and we all called it, but that’s just one egregious instance.

The last thing that made sense was the Vizards showing up to fight the Espada. The Shinigami/Hollow hybrids showing up to fight the Hollow/Shinigami hybrids?that made sense. But then you know the rest.

I think Hitsu talking about Vasto Lordes was the last big thing that made sense. What didn’t make sense was how Kubo ignored any bit of it afterwards. Along with no talk of the Kings Key until Aizen started killing off the Espada.

Pretty much, and everything else was a contradiction of the purpose for introducing that.
