I thought I was going to be lost 2 weeks without us trolling about Aizen’s trolling.
my friend and I basically talked about Aizen’s trolling all weekend.
I’m sorta confused on how Aizen’s hypnosis works. The “official” explanation is that it creates distortions - which implies that he can alter what you see, but he can’t make you see things that aren’t there. But we’ve seen plenty of cases of him using illusions without there needing to be a base object. So…Kubo is just inconsistent then?

Aizen made that chick(Hinamori or whatever her name is) Iceman stabbed look like him… doesnt sound too inconsistent to me.
Distortions:
– The “fake” Aizen who followed Shinji around during TBTP
– Made the dead Room of 46 look like they were still alive.
– Against Komamura at the end of the SS arc, its implied that Komamura saw Aizen but it was really just Gin. This is right before Aizen hits him with the kidou spell.
– Aizen showing Barrigan his entire army getting decimated.
– The Hinamori switch
Straight-Up Illusions:
– Against Hitsu in the SS arc, Hitsu appears to stab Aizen but this is merely an illusion, as Aizen has already moved out of the way and stabbed Hitsu.
– Hallibel stabs Aizen, but again this is just an illusion as Aizen has already moved out of the way.
Unknown:
– The corpse doll. He shows it to Unohana and Tall Tits, but its really just his sword. Unohana sensed something was “off” but that was never described. I would assume he just killed some random person and made everyone think it was him, but that is never clearly stated.

Yeah, take note of what he says on the very next page. “Complete hypnosis controls the 5 senses to the point that it can make the target misinterpret another person’s form, shape, mass, smell, and feel to be that of the enemy. In other words, you could make a dragon out of a fly and a field of flowers out of a swamp, in the eyes of the hypnotized.”
He doesn’t say “I’ll make you see whatever the hell I want you to”, but “I will alter what you see to what I want you to see.” But then we have cases of him doing both.
My money’s on Aizen being on some Dungeons and Dragons shit with his illusions. Nightmare Arcana/Major Image all up in dat azz.
Or Kubo’s inconsistent. Either one works.

but for the sake of playing devil’s advocate [cause i really do see your point] what if the “strait up illusions” were assumed speed based clones relative to cpt.stingerbee’s multi kage bushin no jutsu. DBZ/Naruto is known for speed bursts/body swaps
there is more to Aizen than his shikai
also if abs hypno can make anything seem like anything… what can it make nothing seem like?

I stopped thinking too much about things in this series after Ichigo’s use of Yoruichi’s flight device thing… and then it was shown that Soul Reapers and arrancars could fly and float anyway. :looney:
I had to go back and double-check, but apparently the Hitsu “illusion” thing is anime-only.

It could be a speed clone, similar to what Zommari/Soifon did. Right now there’s just no way to know.

Nah, so far that has been spot on.
They can fly in Earth and in HM but not in SS. That has been pretty consistent on the show so far.
What was the explanation for that - the spirit particles thing? Okay maybe on Earth it would work. I thought HM and SS were the same?
Could very well just be a plot hole, but HM i believe just has a dense amount of Spirit particles, Chad/Yammi/ishida power ups, but soul society is composed of spirit particles.
Even when yammi went full power he didn’t start aborbing building the way ishida did in soul society.
