BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma EXTEND announced!

I did pretty badly at a local tournament…

but I am still enjoying the game, still trying to decide between Ragna and Tsubaki as my main

…sorry Noel

A friend told me to play league of legends and that has taken a lot of my time, and I’ve pretty much been playing BB, fighters in general, only at locals. Plus finals are just now finishing, but I’ll be playing more BB soon.

Can you explain why? Because I can explain why I don’t like it. Short hitstop makes hitconfirms too difficult is the short version. Unless of course you play a character where you can just autopilot what you do next.

Hitboxes also seem unusually wonky, even for a BB game.

Oh, and the balance is worse than Extend. Yay.

Okay, the upcoming patch for BBCP is now released. So, how do you like the changes so far?

All I can say is time for less SSSS Tier Kokonoe, and time for simple S-SS tier Kokonoe, lol. But seriously, I know the changes to my character are minimal, and the top 2 characters are still the same, so it’s hard to really say.

Izayoi buffs… My world is complete.

Top two characters still the same?

Eh, not really. Kokonoe is still there, though.

Azrael is still the same. But yeah, Koko isn’t. She’s still top tier (SSish) but she’s different. :stuck_out_tongue:

Minimal changes to my character as well, but at least I won’t be getting so many bloody accidental fireballs since it’s not a sonic boom motion anymore.

Well, what I meant is Kokonoe and Valkenhayn are still seeming to be the top 2 characters, as opposed to that they’re still the same, characterwise, since they actually did get some changes.

Valkenhayn, top 2? Erm, he’s being consistently listed as A tier and the top 5 looks something like Kokonoe, Rachel, Azrael, Carl, Litchi, etc.

Yeah, word on the street from Japan places Valk pretty far from top 2 at this point. Top 5 or 6 maybe?

I’d wager that he’s somewhere within top 8.

No no, he’ll always be good because of his “design”. :stuck_out_tongue:

And before someone argues that he’s still “good”, I should argue that that’s beside the point, because what people are really bitching about when they complain about Valk isn’t that he’s “good”, it’s that he’s so much better than everyone else. And now he’s not. Design. heh.

Yeah, and they still could have made him a lot worse if they wanted to without completely breaking him.

I think this whole misguided “X character can’t be nerfed due to character design” nonsense has just been further reinforced in the minds of some people over the years due to history repeating itself (Valkenhayn, Tao, Hazama, etc being consistently top tier).

And while I will agree that perhaps some characters are harder to balance/require more thought than others it doesn’t mean that they can’t be balanced at all due to “character design.”

I haven’t touched the game in about two weeks :(, Looking thru the patch i like what i see. Im going to try and put more time into the game…

I’m enjoying Tsubaki’s 421 FB, it’s become useful now. Still have to work way too hard to get wins with her though…

It could be me, but 1.1 feels kind of…slower somehow to me than pre-patch BBCP? I’m not sure how to explain though. Also, the hitstop (I think that’s the right term) increase on Noel’s 22C is admittedly a little annoying as it gives you a much tighter/smaller window to dash cancel off of it into 66C>6B>22BxN.

Wait, shouldn’t more hitstop give you MORE of a window to cancel?

Well, like I said, I’m not sure if it’s the right term or not. Either way, you have to wait more frames after the 22C shot before you can dash into 6C, which makes it tighter since it makes the timing more strict. I’m sure I could find a side by side comparison if I really wanted to, but…it’s kind of hard to explain or something if you haven’t used her before.

Changing the hitstop would just move the timing later, not reduce the window (it can actually enlarge it depending on the previous move). Sounds like they just reduced the window for the cancel manually. Which is dumb. “I know, let’s arbitrarily just make something more executionally challenging!” x.x

Thx, Arc Sys.
