Hakumen… It’s that stupid counter lol. I kept going in too hard and eating it. Other than that, those losses were just me being stupid.
It’s not a matter of when her strings end… I know when they end, I just can’t punish. Bloom Trigger pushes me back too far, and her 2A beats all my normals after Assault Through. I have to block that cross up, because Bullet doesn’t have a run and 5D would get stuffed.
It didn’t seem like I was using it much outside of combos because it’s really unsafe without Heat. Even when I do have it, the range on Noel’s Air to Airs stuff it if it isn’t well timed/spaced.
The matchup isn’t impossible. I can win, but I have to work a lot harder than Noel does.
What’s your PSN? Come show me how I’m supposed to deal with this, because nothing seems to work reliably.
I’ve only had the game since yesterday, but the majority of my matches have been played against Noel. It doesn’t take rocket science and 10 years of experience to know when a matchup sucks.
Assault through is like, -3 on normal block. Bullet’s fastest normal is 6 frames, Noel’s is 5, but in this situation she’s doing 2A which is 6, so if you’re getting beat out, it’s because you’re too slow on the punish. Bloom Trigger is safe on block so of course she’ll end there. What exactly is she doing and what exactly are you doing that makes it so hard for you? Bullet isn’t the best of characters but she has stuff. Safe jump j.C beats out Noel’s reversal options sans fenrir, crossup j.D is hard to reversal in general, her 5B and 2B have decent range, her 5C and 6C are both fatal counters (and bullet gets a lot of damage off a fatal). Etc etc etc
My psn is in my sig, though I likely won’t be on until my domestic copy arrives (though that should be tomorrow). If you message me, put down who you are or else I’ll ignore it (too many people send me messages that I don’t know). You should also go to the bullet forums on DL for matchup advice.
I try to IAD j.C/D to get in, I get beat out by her j.4D or j. 236C. I try to punish Assault Through on block, sometimes I get a CH 2A, others I get beat by her 2A(I probably am just too slow… Would 623B work here?) When I’m trying to pressure her with block strings and such, 2A or 2D shuts me down… Not even gonna mention 4D. I need to learn better block strings, I guess… What’s 236A on block? Every time I try to press a button after it, I lose. Other than that, the character is just really random and all over the place. When she gets going, it’s hard to tell where she’s gonna end up. Left, right, low, overhead… It’s just a huge guessing game. When I do guess right, I’m often still not in a good position.
I went to DL and the vs Noel section doesn’t have a single post in it lol.
I can’t really explain how, but there’s this really good Bullet player I play from time to time, and he has really good fundamentals and holy shit…the dude just gets me in the corner and resets me like mad. Plus, level 2 Lockon abuse is crazy. Hell, the guy was bodying people with Stylish Bullet.
Her j.4D isn’t even an air to air, it shouldn’t be beating out ANYTHING in the air because it hits on the ground. Revolver blast has a legit good hitbox but it’s hella unsafe on block and whiff. 2D shouldn’t even be hitting you up close because it goes super far, I already made a post about 4D and how you can get around it. Just go into training mode and record the setups she does so you can figure out how to get around it, because the only plus moves she has off the top of my head are optic barrel (which she’ll be too far to take advantage of it from there), and 2C (which is like +1). Her 6B is a whopping 26 frames so you can just block that on reaction. Bullet’s DP is slow so hitting noel out of assault through with it isn’t a good idea (not to mention Noel may just dodge it entirely and get a counterhit if you try).
Assuming you mean Bullet’s 236A, I think uncharged 236A is -5 but charged is +3, 5C is neutral on block, and a red lock D is + on block. 2A is +1 on block and comes out in 6 frames.
Hey guys this is my first anime fighting game (the only fighter I’ve played seriously before this is UMVC3) and I’m sort of overwhelmed by all these options I’ve got, mainly the benefits/negatives of the different types of techs and barrier guard (when to use it, how frequently etc.) I’ve gone through the tutorial and will probably do so again, but if I could get a few tips on what I should be practicing as a newbie that would be awesome. I really like Tsubaki so far, so any newbie tips for her as well would be great. I tried to read around Dustloop but got overwhelmed by the thousands of different combos I saw >.<
The short version is that neutral tech is the one you want to be using most often, and as a new player, I would suggest that you just be predictable and use it every time. It’s the only tech option with full invincibility. Quick tech has no invincibility but is faster, and rolling has some invincibility while moving you away. Rolling is very effective against other new players since they don’t know how to catch rolls, but again, it’s a bad habit so I would advise against overusing it.
Barrier block is like pushblock from other fighting games. It moves the opponent farther back, but also increases blockstun by 1F. It’s also a way to block air unblockable attacks. It’s really useful. Instant block has the opposite effect, decreasing pushback and decreasing blockstun by 3F, which allows you to poke out of pressure in spots you otherwise wouldn’t be able to. IBing is very important in high level play, but it does require you to understand the timing of your opponent’s attacks, so I wouldn’t worry too much about it for now.
I’m really excited to see this game at EVO 2014. I wish to see it through the stream but I can’t get Twitch TV to work, because it keeps loading for a very long time. Can someone please help me? I might miss this year’s EVO and end up seeing the results.
What web browser are you using? I’ve gotten Twitch to work fine on Firefox and Opera, but I do time to time experience lag with Google Chrome. I can’t speak for Safari or Internet Explorer (do people still use that?), so if you’re using one of those, I don’t know what else to tell you but to try Firefox or Opera.
An “uphill battle” is a battle wherein one party is at a pretty significant disadvantage. How on earth does that properly describe the Bullet vs. Noel match-up? Are we secretly talking about the Bullet vs. Kokonoe match-up here?
And no, he didn’t state that. He stated that “All her options beat Bullet’s. I can barely even pressure her because she just 2As out of everything” which is honestly closer to being “unwinnable” as opposed to having a simple “advantage” in my opinion. Though I never said that he said either.
Obviously you don’t need years of practice to know whether or not a match-up is bad, but in this case he was just wrong, and his reasoning was rather poor as well.
Not trying to attack him or anything. Once he gets used to how the way things work and starts to get a feel for the game I’m sure that he’ll start liking the game more.
Some say that it’s slightly in Noel’s favor, but it’s not a terrible match-up or anything. Definitely not an uphill battle. There are far, far worse match-ups out there.
Characters like Noel, Tager, Terumi, etc often times tend to be very annoying to deal with for new-ish players, and you’ll always hear a lot of complaints about them, this is further emphasized by the fact that they’re relatively easy characters to use. I went through my Noel-hate phase a while back as well.
If the issue that you’re having is that she’s able to 2A mash you out of everything than you’re going to have issues with everyone, as 2A mash is something that every character can do. You’re going to have to work on your pressure, frame-trapping, neutral, etc.
Watching high-level Bullet play is highly recommended, as is checking out the Bullet sub-forum on Dustloop. Checking out her frame data can also be very beneficial, Dustloop has a nice well-organized wiki.
Lastly, my door is always open to people who would like some Valkenhayn match-up experience. If I’m not busy I’ll gladly get some games in with you.
Well, hopefully I’ll have a revelation that makes fighting Noel a lot easier soon. The only characters I truly have trouble with are her and Azrael. Azrael… I don’t know what the hell to do against him lol.
