Blazblue Chrono Phantasma - a new installment

No kokonoe huh?

Welp, guess its back to ignoring this series like it never existed.

Street Fighter IV sold a TON of copies. Even if half the people didn’t buy SSFIV, the sequel could still stand on its own two legs. You could split the userbase in half AGAIN and AE would be able to stand on its own two feet.

BlazBlue doesn’t have that luxury. For smaller games, every time you release a sequel that less people buy, you’re cutting already low numbers and potentially killing your scene. You can’t compare the communities of both of the games. While I think that BlazBlue fans are more passionate about their game, I also know that their community is much smaller. A smaller community is much harder to maintain than a larger one. That’s why it’s important to grow. Releasing a new game does often lead to growth (see: Street Fighter IV), but in my limited experience, it hasn’t done that with the BlazBlue series because the releases have been too constant.

Meh…Should be a free update to CSE with the option to pay for the characters. I honestly didn’t feel like spending 40 bucks for that balance update. Besides, they are obviously going to “fix” Tager this time because they screwed up last time.

And AE2012 was free if you had AE.

Having your game at Evo certainly helps. Although it’s only “theory fighter”, it’s very unlikely SFxT would have remained as “popular” (I use that word very loosely here) if it was not at Evo. If it wasn’t at Evo, there probably wouldn’t have been a scene left by the time Evo rolled around.

You see, here’s the thing: it’s difficult to make these kinds of statements because you’re thinking of only the US market. All of those revisions aren’t made for the US; they’re made for Japan. It’s obvious the Japanese scene is much, much larger than America’s, so in the end ASW shouldn’t be blamed since they were catering to their target audience. I honestly don’t think it’s wise to say “ASW shouldn’t keep making revisions” when the game is doing so well with their target audience. It’s very difficult to say that the many new releases is what caused disinterest.

In other words, ArcSys keep milking that money cow frequently.

SFXT’s popularity begins and ends with the brand name. Of course it will get more play right before EVO and CAR PRIZE but that’s not something that lasts. That’s not real growth.

You have to keep in mind that their games are “Arcade 1st, Console later”. The constant updates is to give arcade goers a better game (which they don’t need to pay extra for).

I guess that’s understandable. I’m more interested in them actually making BlazBlue into a mainstream game though. I think it’s a solid game (even though I don’t play it because I don’t have time) and I think it deserves better than what it gets. If you’re not on one of the coasts of the US, you PROBABLY (small exceptions excluded) don’t have a BlazBlue scene worth mentioning. That’s a problem that I think ASW should work to fix, although I don’t think they have an American division, so I’m not sure how they’d do that. But it’s obvious that American sales are important because they make up a large portion of sales for the game.

are they still making that GG update?

in other news loketest is tomorrow at akiba HEY

Hopefully the gameplay changes make it more interesting and fresh.

and hopefully it gets played more than a month #kappa

Looking forwards to hearing more,
had a lot of fun with CT but lost the steam after CSII and completely fell off with Extend.
But I’m totally willing to jump back in with an actual sequel.
Kind of more hyped about hearing the new soundtrack at this point though.

Wait, really? Arksys in overdrive right now

Because they fucked AE up on purpose… AE shouldn’t have existed at all. AE2012 is what people should have been getting all along.

Yup, didn’t they say it was because unbalanced games were “more competitive”? Um…What? Lol

FUCK, let this shit die and go back to GG already :bluu:

AE was like $12, and 2012 was free. $12 for four characters + a balance update, is a lot different than paying $40 for one character + balance update.

Looks like development has come pretty far. They hid it pretty well.

Azrael looks kind of interesting, can’t wait to see more of this. Bullet looked a little too much like Makoto in that footage, but it’s hard to tell with it being so short.

Not gonna lie. As want this game to just die off already as much as the next person, but that trailer did get me hyped for some reason.

I don’t know, hopefully they learned in the past and not fuck up this version.
