Blanka Video Thread

Testing that corner setup vs. ryu. With default timing it makes dps whiff or they get stuffed(so far) at all timing, and if you walk forward just a teeny tiny bit you can make it hit same side and you land behind them which lets you keep the corner, though this opens you up to some 1f crouching dp stuff. If you walk a bit more you can obviously crossup but it’s much easier to dp, though reversal dp still doesn’t work.

Seems good against characters without great reversal hitboxes so far.

Thanks ves for the due diligence.

Seems very intriguing…frankly my corner setups after forward throw were pretty stale. Usually forward throw (opponent in corner), hp ball into corner, hop out of corner, dash and low short or elec. Its nice chip setup, but if they have a real reversal, its death city…so usually i have to bait something instead. This seems like pretty safe offense, my favorite type!

I got results vs. a handful of characters so far but the data isn’t too sorted yet.

That stupid seth uppercut has a huge fricken hitbox, not too shocked that jump mk works.

Now, if you wanna be insidious, check and see what happens with the jump fp. This is interesting enough i may even put sf4 back in the xbox, but right now pinball arcade is living there. Midscreen, jump fp after knockdown can be really effective in making seth uppercut whiff…i wonder if it works in this setup too.

j.hp results weren’t too different, though it whiffed sometimes. I’ll do it in full when I finish the mk results

Thanks…do you mean the fp whiffed, or the reversals whiffed? im assuming the fp whiffed?

the hp whiffed yeah.

Can you skip around in Nico Nico? It seems to buffer from the beginning and I can’t skip to the 15 min mark for instance. Are you guys waiting for it to load? Super slow for me and I’m not interested in fooling around with Japanese VPNs just to watch this.

it will keep buffering, just pause it, do something else, then skip forward.

yea, nico nico seems rather limited, not sure why its so damn popular in japan.

Played around some more with that taku setup, even midscreen by using lp ball instead of mp after forward throw. There are a lot of possiblities here

Thanks guys - I was wondering the same thing about nico nico (why it would be so popular without even proper navigation playback controls).

why do you use u2 vs gief?

well a big thing i liked to do against gief was empty jump to bait an anti air lariat, and then punish with ultra 1. unless your in the corner though they can just hold back and move away from the start up of u1 and then it just misses altogether. i figured i’d use the ground version of u2 for that instead during this match, but i didn’t even end up needing to.

I used to do this same thing, then snake eyez started to be willing to block the j.strong on the mixup between the empty jump then just os spd if I didn’t hit a button.

Wow, it seems Wolfkrone find a way to completely avoid the unblockable.

i knew he knew about it, i should have been osing throw after the jump in

yea, ves had a whole breakdown against viper awhile ago. I think against the ex cancel, yer supposed to os neutral strong, but early like. I really dont remember anymore.

I cant say much about the blanka, other than it was very solid.

The viper match though, I hate to say it but you just kinda fell apart at the end. I know the feeling, certainly. Dont stop blocking low, I know yer worried about the overhead, but he got so many low mk into punch thing, into dizzy, all because you wouldnt duck. There is more to it than that, and I kinda see what you were trying to do, but in that situation, instead of standing, maybe jumping back to reset might be better. There isnt much viper can do to you, from that distance, and it lets you reset space.

Also, it seems in this match, Wolkrone knew how you played. For example, when you crossed her up with mk, she would almost ALWAYS just do uppercut, and trade with your poke. She resets the situation, and does more damage than your light attack. All you had to do was block one of those, and he was so fucked. Im not sure which ultra you were using, I recommend ultra 1 in this match if anything just to punish whiffed uppercuts. Honestly, some may call it a “read”, but I think he just predicted you would press buttons after the crossup mk, and uppercutted every time. Block and punish that shit.

Good matches overall. Who else beat you? The evil ryu? I guess they were calling him alucard?
