Blanka’s st.jab xx f.hop is amazing vs. focus attacks
Rollings on reaction is also possible in an opponent who do too much focus, he eat a lot of damages, and generaly after that, he never do a focus.

What is this set up after a backtrhow ?? Dash forward, jump hk, unblockable on Gouki or what ?
Wasn’t unblockable with the one set of timing I used (it crossed-up). I still have to test other scenarios. I’ll probably update the spreadsheet with the results I have so far later this weekend.
Watch carefully when he does it at the end of round 2 though, he delays the jump for a fraction of a second which causes it to hit in front. Very useful setup against certain chars. Notice that Tokido doesn’t try to reversal because you have to change your timing slightly depending on how Blanka jumps otherwise you risk getting your DP stuffed.

Correction, it’s j.mk and j.hp that can x-up. j.hk whiffs and lands at the back. utemasuka delayed his jump on both occasions to get it to hit in front.

Does anybody have any videos of Taku? Having the 12th highest BP in Japan is such an incredible feat for such a low tier character that it sort of gives me hope that Blanka has some hidden potential.

Taku is incredibly strong, and has good execution. He’s really smart, but also has a full gimmick set for comebacks.
Stop comboing ball when you don’t need to. Do electricity combos.

Anyways it’s hard to really tell overall, that matchup is horrendous for Gouken.

round 1 you go for a reset on a guaranteed crumple that wouldn’t have led to anymore damage than if you had simply dashed forward and done a combo. So your expected damage in that situation goes down by a lot. Also the ultra hit, but I disagree with the decision, you had the life lead. If he had simply blocked low, ultra would have killed you.
r2, nice jab xx hop to beat focus, too bad you didn’t convert. You lost to missing aa’s so whatever.
r3 he goes all in on focuses, so good stuff I guess, haha.
also slide under a fullscreen fireball to maintain down charge is too smart.

I’m generally the dude who says don’t do hop mixups, but I honestly believe this matchup is horrible and that it’s easier to just rush her down and hope than try to play perfect and not get karakusa’d. So i think you played it right.
