First correct answer I’ve seen in the thread. Fried chicken was something that black slaves learned from their white masters in the south. Originally, it was only used for special occasions. Post slavery, blacks would make fried chicken prior to traveling because it would keep for extended periods of time without refrigeration. This was necessary because they could not anticipate how long they would have to travel before reaching a restaurant or business establishment that would serve them. This is how the stereotype emerged.
