I haven’t been maining Bison for too long, but that might be it afaik, because if you don’t go to back immediately after inputting the dash after a focus, you won’t be able to SK them.
Assuming they’re in focus crumple… It’s usually to get a charge. Sometimes it helps push the person into the corner. Sometimes it’s used for stun. Sometimes it’s “safer” or “easier” for some people. Also, if you want damage/stun go for HP PC over HK SK. The scissor kick gives better positioning, but the PC does better outright damage.
Yeah I was pretty sure you could but I couldn’t remember if it had to be raw or not. Also we should get some matches going again.
I need help with Bison tiral 16-17. icant do the hell attack i just jum in the air press MP and again MP and it never hits any tips?
You have to time it when they jump up.
I’m having a problem with combos, I don’t do’em. I CAN I just don’t find places to use them in a match. I occasionally use one just for charge but it’s rare, the only time I do them is after a cross up. But I generally just go for the throw, since I don’t want to eat a dp if one of my links is off. I generally punish with Cr.Lkxxsk but should I use jab and just try and combo it dp be damned? Is jab as good as short for punish anyway? When do you guys use combos?
I normally do combos off of focus, jumpin/cross up, or c.lk pokes/techs.
I also like s.lk, s.lk, s.hk.
Depending on what you’re punishing, try to do c.mp/c.mk xx hard SK/PC.
I do c.lk xx lk. sk is good 'cause it’s fast. Just not as damaging as the above.
c.jab is not as good because:
1.) c.jab comes out in 4 frames, whereas c.short comes out in 3 frames.
2.) c.jab can be blocked high. c.short needs to be blocked low.
Cross ups, jump ins, try to block string some chars with bad reversals/no invincible reversals.
If your punishing a whiffed DP at the very least use cr.mk xx hk sk. Personally I find combos doable after crossups with j.mk or if I space it right work in progress j.hk. I wouldn’t worry too much about DP’s then. If they get reversal happy just do the crossup and block, DP comes out and make them suffer after. In other words train them to fear throwing out random DP’s.
Yeah against shotos I always do C.mkxxSK although I know I should go for Hpxxsk. Yeah I think I’ll start doing them off of jump ins more. And for focus when do you guys use them? I only ever focus off jump in and I’m always hesitant with how unsafe they are. I seriously need to use them though my game lacks because I don’t.
meh… now only number 24 i figured out of 16-17 so now any tips in linkin c.lk,c.lp,c.mk?
Those are links, i know the LP is chain cancelable, but you have to link it and not mash it.
On trial 24 it’s a lot easier to do c.lp, c.lk, c.lp, c.mk
I think it’s still a 1 frame link from c.lp to c.mk but it’s easier to hit the c.lp than the c.lk after the jump
You lose the advantage of doing a jump-in then a low attack but, at least you can complete the trial
Is Cr.lp, C.lp, C.lp,Cr.lp string long enough to get a charge? I’ve been grinding it out in training but I honestly can’t tell. Cr.lpx3,Cr.lk and Lkx3 are his only other combos long enough to get a charge right?
If you dash/walk up and hit charge quick enough you should be charging pretty quick, it prob seems faster if you dash but dashing in constantly isn’t generally a good idea. you can use none charge combos as well but that is not what you asked. Anyways other combos you can gain charge in, but are also useful i battle are, cr.lp>c.lp>s.lk>c.mk>SK/PC, cr.lp>c.lp>s.lp>c.lk/c.mk>SK, cr.lpx2>s.lk>c.lk/c.mk>SK, c.lp>s.lpx2>c.lk/c.mk. You can be reversaled through all of these after the third hit so watch out. And the reason to use s.lk instead of s.lp between the c.mk links is because lk makes it two frames instead of one. And some of these combos the last hit will whiff on small characters as well.
Also cr.lp>cl.lp>c.lk>lk SK is bison’s only true blockstring combo that he cannot be reveraled out of.
I know c.lp, sc.lp, c.mk/c.lk xx knee press isn’t long enough for a charge on it’s own
I’ve done c.lp x3, c.lk xx knee press though
no its not, thats the problem. Oh and the fact that you have to be so damn close to your opponent too.
Thanks ryboy, i’ll give those two a shot and yeah Cr.lpX3 seems kind of useless with how close you need to be. I saved your post about the noncharge combo in the bison rush down thread too I’ll start running through them tomorrow likely.
Naw, I c.LP x3 to bait. It’s a chain cancel, people love mashing between Bison c.LK links. Sometimes they don’t even look at what move it is and automatically try to mash out of it. Just know you’re pressing 2-3 chain jabs and wait for the reaction.
So I sat in training for like an hour and a half just grinding combos. And man I fucking hate plinking and one frame links, and if it wasnt his best charge getting combo I wouldn’t bother. I’ve gotten to where I’m hit the Cr.Lk x3 pretty consistently, but I’m having a serious problem getting the scissors to come out. I usually get nothing or I fuck up and get a PC. I don’t know if plinking helps or if my thumb is just getting muscle memory for doing it. And if that’s the case I would rather use my index and pointer since it feels really strange using my thumb for some reason. /rant
On the up side I can get the Cr.Lp,Clp,cl.lk,Cr.lkxxsk like 95% of the time, just need to work on doing it off a cross up/jump in. Practiced the charge less combos, the only thing tripping me up is another one framer lk, rh which is how all of them end. Although I prolly get it like 50% of them time and I haven’t practiced it much so it might not be too bad. Is lp to Rh easier? It didn’t seem like it but I did it at the end when I was just done with combos for the night. how does your hand rest when you do the lk/lp,Rh, do you use your pinky for the rh? I don’t know when to use it or why I should. I know it cancels is that why, maybe get a sk out of it? Thanks in advance.
