Theres a blackout here in laurier. Do you know if Casuals are cancelled or does the shop still have power?

Power at the shop is currently out (random message from Gary “This is homo”). It was out for about 1/2 of the Waterloo campus but it came back.

POWER IS BACK ON!!
Casuals are on as of now!! See everyone here tonight!

This is unfortunate, we had a slew of Dhalsim players on deck including our reigning best Dhalsim in Waterloo, rb_999.

Hi
I’ve been playing SSF4 for about a month now and I’m looking for a place I could lan with fellow street fighter members in order to get better feedback and improve my game. I work in Guelph and the nearest community I found was you guys. I checked out the website and I just wanted to inquire what the atmosphere was like and do you have people willing to teach or coach newer players?
The reason why I ask is cause I don’t feel like driving to Waterloo just to get my shit pushed in and have some asshole gloat about the obvious, that is what Xbox live is for :p. I would really like to learn how to effectively play my main Juri and have a good time.

Thanks

I can only really address the second part of your question, as the best way to get a feel for the atmosphere is to attend an event; i cannot determine how you may interpret the proceedings. As for coaching, we have no coaching/mentoring program in place per se but anyone that you play will gladly give you advice on weaknesses they may see in your game, as well as strong points that you can capitalize on. What you gain from this sort of practice structure is very dependant on you and your approach to improvement; we can point out flaws in anyone’s game for days, it does not in any way ensure that they will actually learn how to use their character to the best of their abilities.

These gatherings are what you make of them; it is not our responsibly to ensure you improve. Play a variety of people, ask for advice, be open to critisim and I’m sure you’ll both learn how to effectively play your character and have a good time.

very well thought out response…
red rain, listen to what ian just said… lol

we can sit with you and pick apart your playstyle and holes in your offense/defense. but if you don’t listen or take criticism well, then it’s all for nothing…
last night for example, i learned from rod, that i let my sagat get cornered way too easily and to stand my ground more… something i’m definitely going to work on.

no one really acts like psn/xbl players at our place… there is a reason why those kind of players never stay and play at our place. they’d show up once and not win a single match, and have nothing to say, then we’d never see them again lol.

getting back to what ian said, casuals is what you make of it. but most people come to make friends, and get better at street fighter at the same time.
most of us are good friends outside of the street fighter scene also. i’m glad to be part of it.

Thank you both for your response and I’ll try to attend a gathering soon. I’m always looking for constructive criticism and I believe I can learn a lot more at a lan with like minded players than by just grinding on Xbox Live. I look forward to seeing you gents in the future.

great attitude man… people who play similar characters to you can also give pointers as we have a wide variety of characters played at the shop (not everyone is a tier whore like danvan). Who are you using?
