I’m considering some blockstrings I saw Poongko use in some YouTube videos. Just keep in mind that tons of Abi GAIL’s normal attacks are special cancellable. So, on block, Abi GAIL can special cancel into KK,LP+LK! On a side note, I like to use KK,LP+LK as an anti-air, absorbing the jump attack before grabbing them out of their trip guard landing recovery time!
s MP, c LP is cool. Works VS 3f attacks. s MP, s LP strangely doesn’t allow the s LP to score a counterhit, with a 3f attack as “action on block.” Even then, they’re still stuck in block stun, unable to even startup their 3f attack. I might use s MP, c LP after j MK, maybe going for b+HP instead of c LP if the j MK hit, but going for c LP if j MK is blocked, or even stopping and going for something else after the s MP.
I’m especially impressed with s LK, c LK, c LK as a block string, however. Again, all hits work VS 3f attacks, but because Abigail has his HCB+K command throw, you can mix it in! The trick, maybe obviously, is to not special cancel the normal into the command throw. Let the normal attack recover right before grabbing.
After s LK, c LK, without the opponent walking away, both HCB+MK and HCB+LK command throws are in range. So after just s LK, HCB+K will also work. After s LK, c LK, c LK, a KK,LP+LK is still an option, special cancelling off of the 3rd hit, the c LK,
After all of s LK, c LK, c LK is blocked, a c MK is still in range. Then, after c MK gets blocked, c MP is in range still! A pretty crazy blockstring:
s LK, c LK, c LK, c MK, (c MP_s HP)!
There are obviously interruptable gaps there, but frame data isn’t the only thing to consider in blockstrings. Range and pushback also comes into play. Most 3f attacks are short range punches, like Cammy’s c LP or Ryu’s s LP. So, just keep in mind the risks. That said, Abigail might have the best set of normal attacks in SFV when it comes to speed VS damage/range. Other characters like Dhalsim have longer range, but Dhalsim’s normal attacks are slower and aren’t special cancellable.
After s LK gets blocked but their 3f attack gets counterhit by the c LK into the second c LK, QCF+LP can hit. After s LK, c LK hits, which is a normal hit combo, QCF+LP reaches. After the c MK hits, QCF+LP also hits, and is obviously difficult to single hit hit confirm, but the option is available. After the c MP, I’m still playing with ideas. You might not want to cancel into the KK,LP+LK off of the c MP just because of how far away the oponent is. A s HP might be better. c MP special cancelled into one of the HCB+P versions might hit, but won’t combo.
While s LK blocked, counterhit c LK, c LK, QCF+LP hits VS Karin trying to c LP interrupt after the s LK, VS Menat trying to interrupt after the s LK blocked with s LK, her 3f attack, after the counterhit c LK, c LK, QCF+LP doesn’t reach. VS Menat, Abigail has to special cancel into QCF+PP, spending 1 level of Super meter, to prevent a dropped combo. I’m not sure if more characters have the same situation, having to special cancel with QCF+PP due to range. It sucks because of how the scaling will be high because of the 2 light attacks. I like the s MP, c LP blockstring because it scales less.
EDIT: s LK blocked, Chunli trying to c LK interrupt c LK, c LK, QCF+LP works; just tested it.
EDIT #2: I think after s LK blocked, the opponent has to be doing a crouching 3f attack to allow Abigail counterhit c LK, c LK, QCF+LP to hit. I tested it VS Mika’s 3f c LP and QCF+LP was able to combo. Then I tested it VS Ryu’s 3f s LP and QCF+LP was unable to combo due to range again. So if the oponent’s 3f interrupt is a standing normal like M Bison, Abigail will have to spend 1 bar to hit confirm with QCF+PP.
