"Beware the Hair" - The Lars Thread

Couple of corrections and additions:

-Ark Blast (f1+2) is -14, yes, but that’s only launch-punishable for a handful of the cast. Kaz, Hei, DJ, Armor King, Bryan, and Lars himself are the only ones to my knowledge that have i14 launchers (and Lars’ i14 launcher, fb2,1, does not yield as much damage as the other members in that group).

-f4,1,2,1’s last hit is closer to -14 than -12. In fact, I’m pretty sure it is -14. The third hit is -10 on block. f4,1 is not NC, but it is safe and I’ve even beaten people’s jabs with df1 afterwards. So it’s probably like -3 or -2 or something? Idk, but it’s not that negative at all. Pretty good poke imo.

-uf3 was only nerfed in damage and had its hurtbox enlarged so that characters like Dragunov could punish it properly. Its crush properties were not nerfed. i13 pokes like generic df1s have stuffed it since T6: BR, as well as jabs being able to punish it. I do not know why anyone noticed this until now, but whatever. I have even stuffed Marduk’s uf3 (which is a mid as well) with this move. It’s still a weapon of fear and rage, just not past a certain level of play where people block all day.

Other changes:
-b1’s range was reduced
-1,2 is no longer homing
-db2,1 is no longer homing
-base damage on db2 reduced
-b2,1 is now -10, but fully hit-confirmable
-DE 1+2 is now safe on block at -9
-d2 bounds
-df2 is only +4 on normal hit now, instead of +9

Other notable moves that you don’t have listed:

-FC df1+2: two-hit low that is only -13 on block. His best low outside of ff4,3 imo. Great for setting up a scary FC game.
-db2,1: Very good poke with great range. Just don’t whore it out because it can be walked to either side.
-b2,1: Hitconfirmable poke, nuff said.

I see on most of ur combos u bound with d/f+1. I finish mine with f/b+2,1 its a bit harder but gives u more damage

fb2,1 is Lars’ best B! move anyway. Leaves you closer so better TAs like Dragunov’s f4,4,3 work in longer combos, best WB! option since f4,1,2,1 says fuck hitstun, and it does the most damage.

f,b+2,1 doesn’t always work in combos. d/b+2~f, SE d/f+1 is more consistent and carries farther I think. But f,b+2,1 is still good on its own as a punisher, especially for raw tags.

If your fb2,1 isn’t working, then you’re being too slow. It’s been his staple B! since BR. db2~SE df1 way carry a little further, but it doesn’t work that well with some of the best TAs (i.e. Dragunov f4,4,3 or Lili’s ff3~f~u TAs). It also doesn’t work as a WB!, which fb2,1 does. But yeah, fb2,1 is a really good block and whiff punisher. i14 launcher? Yes please.

I mainly use uf3 and f1+2 to punish raw tags though. More damage in general, and you can take red life with f1+2.

Just adding my two cents here.
As far as I know, SE d/f+1 is there just to be a little more creative. If you do replace f,b+2,1 with d/b+2~F SE d/f+1, it’s usually 1 point less. And SE d/f+1 doesn’t like the walls as much as f,b+2,1 as far as I’ve seen, so f,b+2,1 is the best choice in more ways than one. f,b+2,1 as a launcher also won’t net as much damage as some of his staple combos unless you can wall carry or have a good/long TA filler (ex: Leo’s f+3~D BOK 4, KNK 1~D BOK 1,2) to still net in high 70s to 80.

fb2,1 has better reach and it’s faster, so it’s good to punish “safer” tagging from afar.

uf3 has the same reach, if not farther. It’s easily Lars’ best mid-range whiff punisher.

close range: f1+2
mid range: uf3
far range: b3,4

Some of the other character guides have some listings of moves for the characters that are “faster frame” attacks, and also mention which attacks are good for “pokes.” I’m trying to learn more Lars fundamentals, and was wondering if someone could do a quick post to help me figure out what to use. Currently, I also am trying to play Alisa, and her normal “4” seems to get me out of a lot of messes, and lets me punish quite a few misses, blocked attacks, and even interrupts a lot of attacks. I’ve also done pretty well with her “d/f+2” and “b/f+3” at times.

But when I tag in Lars… I suck even more… and am very very ineffective. I appreciate any time taken to help me out.

Umm pokes I use mostly are
d/f+1,
d/f+2 (juggles on CH)
d/b+1
d/b+2,1
d/b+4 (Juggles on CH but is punishable so i wouldnt use it to often)

Also wanna add this low parry combo I use d/f+1, 2,1 f+2,1~f SE1

Scrub here. Is there any way you could include a section for combo notation? I don’t understand what ~f and B! mean.

Is trying to land d/f+1 worth it after a Bound? In Tekken 6 this was a great ending extension but in this game it seems their hitbox is gone before I can land this.

no it isn’t, the only time I find it worth doing is after:<br>uf+3, ws+2, fb+2,1 B! dash, df+1, db+2~f, SE1<br><br>almost every other combo I tried this with was either very hard to pull off, or it whiffed.<br>

anyone kno how many frames u/f+3 is on block? I played someone online a while ago and I couldnt punish it at all
