Between DC and Marvel...which do you prefer the most?

Fixed for even more variety.

Also, to mention Justice League Heroes and Marvel Ultimate Alliance in the same sentence is a crime. Neither game was good.

Agreed. It’s all about Justice League Task Force for the SNES. Best Game EVAH!!

JLTF at EVO!

powers and criminal dont count

Seems Marvel did a really good job on being a part of our generation’s childhood. Almost (I’m basing off of people I know and the posts on SRK) everyone is saying they read/prefer Marvel because it’s what they grew up and are more familiar with. You guys are right in saying that DC needs to differentiate from the anti hero and to bolster the image of the traditional hero, but on top of that I believe they need to do what Marvel did with us to the newer generation and find a way to make themselves a niche in their lives. How to do this when Marvel already has a strong market is really a tough one. A style in the early '90s is huge guns, lots of muscle, and violence at it’s best (the style came from later '80s popular movies such as Rambo etc). I honestly can’t think of a style right now that would really make kids jump onto the DC boat, but I do think that it would help on top of everything else.

I think DC also needs to develop their villains better. All of batman and Superman’s rogues are good. But the majority of the other characters’ rogue gallery is laughable.

Marvel has changed the skrulls, who were beaten down by the Young Avengers and company at one point, into a serious threat, worthy of a crossover event. And they’re also developing new villains that are actually interesting (I.E The Hood).

But see, if we can’t count Powers and CRIMINAAAAAL!!!11 then it wouldn’t be sporting to count Vertigo, WildStorm, and Paradox. And if we can’t count Vertigo and WildStorm, then how the heck does DC even stand a chance? Most of their most groundbreaking works in the '80s and '90s are now published under the Vertigo imprint. Doom Patrol, Animal Man? Swamp Thing, Hellblazer, Shade? Sandman?

If the entire superhero genre collapsed and died tomorrow, we would still be able to rebuild it all using Watchmen and America’s Best Comics as blueprints. And that’s DC.

Well considering we havent been using vertigo, wildstorm, etc, not to mention we are referring to current DCU/MU titles…

Same exact thread started in both the Marvel and DC forums of Newsarama.

In the Marvel forum, Marvel’s leading in the poll and in the DC forum, DC’s leading in the poll. Like Geese Howard would say, PREDICTABOWE! :looney:

Yeah. But if you add up the numbers from both polls, Marvel is leading :wgrin:

Hell yea.

All the prep-time in the world wouldn’t save that nigga.

But on the real.

It’s just crazy.Marvel has reached the point where they can give characters that might not be as important as a Main character such as The Punisher,Blade,Elektra, and Ghost Rider.Of those only Elektra bombed.Fucking HellBoy(Part 2 coming soon).Dat motherfuckin nigga THOR is getting a movie.

In the mean time I’m PRAYING that we can get a Flash movie,Green Lantern, hell maybe even the Green Arrow.Anything, but another Batman or Superman movie(The last Batman movie kicked ass though.Didn’t even want to watch Superman Returns).

DC has to do something.I know that they have great characters, and great ideas.

Box - True, no one’s arguing that Marvel’s leading, sales-wise and popularity-wise anyway. You only have to look at monthly figures to see that. My point is that you are going to get different results wherever you create a poll like this. So you shouldn’t take, say this one - too seriously or decide that this poll proves something about how effective Marvel or DC are operating, when it only proves something about this site and it’s members really.

IMHO All Star Superman >>>>>> Every other comic book on the racks today. But that’s just me. I think I still voted for Marvel out of habit though.

Just to point out, even if DC has less books in the top ten of every month than Marvel does, they still beat the living daylights out of every other comic book company out there. They may not be doing as well as Marvel but IMHO it is hard to say that they have a bad business model when there are indy companies trying to keep their heads above water. By rough comparison, DC is still doing better than Marvel during their bankruptcy years. It’s just that between the big 2, someone is going to #1. Right now, it’s Marvel. The future? Who knows.

also, how do you “prefer” something “the most”? just prefer would suffice…anyway…MAHVEL

Cuz you can love both of them, but there can only be 1 #1 y’know?

well yesh, “love the most” is alright, but more/most is already included with “prefer”

anywho, c’mon, on SRK it’s gonna be marvel…

Naw Ultimate Alliance was WAAAY better than heroes and the 360 addons with Magneto, Doom, Cyclops, and the Hulk made it even better.

the problem for me w ith dc is that there characters are to over powered
the problem with marvel is that there characters cant seem to stay dead

among other problems.

Marvel easily, DC heroes to me are just boring for the most part.

There is a GL movie in the works. Unfortunately, it’s Hal.

what?

this is bad how?
