Anyone catch the season premiere tonight? Episode was super solid. Loved the light switch scene at the end. Such a small, yet very important, detail of Jimmy’s character.

Yeah. Dude got robbed by that Mexican lol. Almost slipped up and told the cops about his illegal money lol

Yeah it was, this might be the season where he turns into saul, depending on how his character develops.

That light switch scene is kinda similar to the scene where he’s stuck in the room and he can get out by opening the emergency door. The past Jimmy probably would’ve opened that door honestly.

Thats true. I kind of figured the only reason he didnt open it, was because he didnt want the cops poking into who he was, he was scared… but that seemed silly honestly. I think it is just a change in his personality. I hope we see present day Saul get back to being Goodman eventually.

Also, I thought it was interesting, he was watching that couple, where he told kim “Its like a lioness going after a fat gazelle” and then immediately after, hes calling to work at that law firm. I dont think hes giving up his Jimmy ways, I think he just found himself a fat gazelle to hunt.

Also… was there any chance that guy at the bar was the same one who Walt blew up his car? I just checked, it is the same guy lol. Awesome. More ties to the breaking bad universe.

My interpretation of the gazelle thing was that he is still Jimmy McGill and not Slippin’ Jimmy. Slippin’ Jimmy is slowly coming back, but currently Jimmy still wants to do what is right. He may also be motivated by his relationship with Kim to take the law firm job. Perhaps he thinks Kim wouldn’t stick around him if all he did was scam people all the time.

And yeah, the stock investor guy was the same guy whose car was blown up by Walt in the earlier seasons of Breaking Bad (season 1 I think). I knew that guy looked familiar, but Talking Saul confirmed it. Pretty good Easter egg. The tequila they scammed out of him was also the same type of tequila Gus used to poison the Salamanca family. Gould and Gilligan confirmed that we’ll be seeing some more Breaking Bad references and even characters this season (hopefully more outside of Tuco).

Great season opener. I love how goody two- shoes Saul sacrificed so much for Kim last season only to get friendzoned, and the moment he showed his badboy side Kim spreads her legs. I applaud the realism.

i’m glad BCS is back. some of my favorite scenes:

i bet y’all thought i was gonna post the chick in the bikini. her heels were too high. she can stay with that fat dude.

Bruh.

Good episode. I think I’m going to enjoy Better Call Saul more than the Walking Dead this season. Unlike the Walking Dead, Better Call Saul is not only story driven but character driven as well. You root for these characters while sympathizing for them. Seriously, knowing what Saul becomes in the end while learning his hardships and shortcomings as a lawyer before even meeting Walter White is fascinating. It mostly has to do with wanting him to win. Jimmy is a good guy who is just put in uncompromising situations. Case in point, his relationship with Kim. When they finally made it apparent they liked each other, I was happy for Jimmy, but then their critical conversation and interaction at the end of the episode was heart wrenching. Why? Because you KNOW that he isn’t going to change his ways and it will conflict with his relationship with her.

Spoiler

WOW he was actually serious about the baseball cards  I shouldn’t act surprised though.

What I find interesting is that Jimmy and Kim have such different moral alignments. Kim is like a Lawful Neutral type person, follows the law to a T and that is what is most important to her. Jimmy is more of a Chaotic Neutral bordering on Chaotic good. He wants to do whats right, regardless of the actual law, but is guided by his own moral beliefs. This came to a head in the episode, when Jimmy made the fake VHS tape. Kim sees him as going to far. She was fine with lying to the police, spinning a story, and getting a criminal out of trouble (after all, it was all legal enough for her taste). But once he made that tape, thats clearly a violation of the law. It never even seemed to occur to Jimmy that he was crossing any lines doing that, he was just doing what needed to be done to help his client.

Basically, his brother is right. Jimmy doesn’t respect the law, he instead just relishes in bending (or breaking) the laws. Even though hes good at being a traditional lawyer, he hates it.

Much like the cup in his new car, its just not a right fit. Hes trying to put himself into something he’s not. And I feel like he’s only doing it for Kim, which can only end in him resenting her.

Look at you, Mr. Metaphors.
