Hey guys. What’s the best way to build up your super bar with strider? Lets say that I accidentally did Ragnorak by accident and now I got no super, so what should I do to try to build up a super?
This is the team I use. Cable/Strider/Doom.
And to make it harder lets say that my opponent is cable magneto or storm, so I would have to play really carefully to not get hit by one of their supers.
So yea… How should I play to survive long enough to get a super with strider?
your question is too broad. To tell you what to do w\o meter is telling you how to play strider properly. Thats just too much typing. Theres certain ways to do it against every character. There are some strats that might work on mag but wont work on storm or cable etc… I can give you a little advice though.
- You have cable AA in this fight so when they come at you swinging call cable. You’ll definetly give rush down problems with cable AA.
- protect cable AA properly if they block him
- if the AA hits throw animals to build meter
- once they respect the cable AA start mixing it up with doom assist.
- learn to call doom and cable properly
- calling doom properly lets you come in and chain for extra meter and stay safe at the same time.
- strider doesnt need orbs to be effective. He can fight perfectly fine w\o them. It just gives him the upper hand whenever he has them.
- Theres times where you should and shouldnt activate. You shouldnt activate for no reason. When you fuck up your keep away and you can be hit. This is when you should really activate. Or you can activate to apply some pressure to a character thats close to dying. Or if you have a bad matchup against a certain character, you should do everything in your power to kill that character. Or activate to save one of your assists. The list can go on. lol
- try to avoid situations that force you to activate. You want to try to activate most of the time on your own terms.
s\d is trial and error. Its not a team that you can immediately pick up and have success with. Sure anyone can activate and call doom but what do you do after? thats the trial and error part. I cant sit here and tell what to do because if they countered a strat I mentioned, you wont know what to do then. I can just kind of give little strats that may generally work. Dont be afraid to try things with s\d. Its how you learn what and what not to do.
basically you want to stay safe because you cant activtate but there are ways to stay safe and still apply pressure. Also, TRY not to activate when exactly have 1 meter. If you fuck up and bust out the ragnarok on accident your left with pratically none. You should TRY to activate no less than 1 1\2 or 1 3\4. I recommend not activating till you have 1 3\4 because you can get that meter back faster. Just use the 1 3\4 or 1 1\2 method till you know how to build meter back fast. Then you can think about dumping that 1 meter to kill off a character.
even if you play s\d for years, you’re still going to do the ragnarok super. Its best to develop a strategy for when it happens. You just have to face the fact that the ragnarok will happen sometimes.
sent\stri\doom has an easier time building meter than cable\s\d. Drones plus animals control the bottom part of the screen. Overall sent\s\d is the best s\d team. Cable requries meter to be effective and so does strider. Thats the problem with the cable\s\d. Sent can deal damage w\o meter so all the meter you built up with sent goes directly to strider.
I made a video thread with a collection of s\d vids from the net. If you really want to learn s\d, watch as many s\d vids as you can. Break down what they’re doing and try to figure out why they’re doing it. Especially the parts where they’re fighting without meter. This is what makes strider doom good. If you can play w\o orbs, your that much better when you have them. If you can figure out why something works, your on the right track.
