Late to the party, but I fail to see how anyone could possibly recommend Skullgirls and its 6 button tag fighter nonsense to a beginner that you want to introduce gently.
Persona 4 is the clear go-to here. It has an aesthetic that is likely to appeal to the audience in question, has a reasonable number of buttons (Read: Fewer than you have fingers, and also conveniently the same number as are on the FACE of a gamepad.) autocombos to help get things moving BEFORE you spend hours grinding in training mode, and so on and so forth. All it doesn’t have is a Skullgirls-esque tutorial, and in this situation, that’s absolutely irrelevant. YOU should be her tutorial.
