Folks about to get bodied sonnnn!!!

GGs to Ethan, Virsaga, Angel, Mackinzie and SamB. Angel and SamB y’all deserve to lose your dollars for betting against me vs. Mac’s gay Abel. Fuck his U2.

I went. Did poorly. Had fun. Goddammit AE needs to come out. GGs to everybody I played.

Results?
And now that I own third strike, I dont think I’ll be going to any more sf4 tournaments or gatherings.
Why play a worse game?

I know bimmy got 1st but who is 2nd and 3rd?

Thanks for the vote of confidence Monocle. Real talk I think the results were

  1. Lord BBH

  4. Yangsing?

The rest I’ll leave to Best Bout.

R.I.P. Portland tournament scene

First post updated with details for our next event.

i like the speedy announcement. 3rd strike will be their right?

i hear you on that, man i was really looking forward to this(and meeting another Gen player) but fucking Rovente’s mushroom pizza… food poisoning hit me at like 1am, finally i feel well enough to check srk. was bummed that i missed this… but ill be there on Tuesday. congrats to BBH again lol

Edit: also was this the first Slugfest not hosted at Ground Kontrol?

Third Strike you say?

You guys should just bring a 3rd strike set up if you wanna play. I’m sure Panda and Fatbear would enter if you wanted to run a side tournament after MvC3 & SSFIV are over. Who knows other peeps might enter as well.

might have to do that!

Yoooo 3s!!!

Let’s do a round robin tourney. Finally, a real game.

Real talk, you PDX fools need to resolve whatever conflict is going on. I don’t know details, not enough of them anyway to really get into it, but the scene is getting really divided and it’s fucking shit up for everyone in terms of tournout for events. Not even gonna say it’s because people are choosing sides, but I think it’s because most people just don’t wanna deal with the bullshit. Either that, or they preemptively know because of the drama, there is gonna be small turnout, thus resulting in even LESS turnout.

Either way, I’d like to see PDX solidify itself again and start working as a cohesive group so my trips up there for events aren’t for shit.

Then leave it at that. Stop trying to create more drama where there is none to begin with. There are several factors for low turnouts of a tournament and it’s up to the organizers to figure out why and work hard to fix it. We are working extremely hard right now promoting our next event among other things. We are going to have some huge announcements soon. We’ll let you guys know once everything is finalized.

First, I’d appreciate it if you didn’t redirect my statement in the direction of assumption, as if I was “trying to create more drama where there is none to begin with.” In fact, if you re-read what I said, albeit not sugar-coated, I’m telling it like it is.

Secondly, are there many things that factor into why a tournament might have a low turnout? Sure. But it’s not like the amount of promotion going into these events is lackluster. Everyone I’ve talked to seems to know about this tournament, or that one – but for some reason or another they didn’t seem to show up…or chose to go to a different one. All I know is that there is some underlying divide within the Portland scene and I’d like to see it resolved.

You’re all grown, right? Then handle it like grown individuals and make the best of the PDX scene because, frankly, the Northwest is lacking in substantial player-pool as it is – we don’t need extra shit making it more difficult for us as a unit to have awesome venues. I live in Eugene, my scene is ass. I’m also one of those players that drives up often to frequent tournaments in PDX, but I’m also not down with spending $40 on gas to drive to an event that has 10-15 people showing up, when it can easily house 30 if the scene would come together and stop bickering over things that can/should be resolved.

Just saying.

EDIT: I’ve also got it on good word that Seattle won’t be coming down to PDX either if this shit keeps up. It’s not worth their time, or money. I know we all got friends in their community, and enjoy playing with them when they come down, so that among other things should be motivation to put bullshit aside and try and work out an agreement, right?

^This isn’t going to turn into a flame war so I’ll end it with this. There is alot of “he said she said” stuff that goes on in the community. It’s not worth arguing over. Your stating what your perception of what the scene is which is fine, but just realize there is always more to it than that. There has been no more divide recently than there has been in the past 6 months, and the turnout for tournaments has been great. Last month was a bad month for PDX overall but that has nothing to do with drama within the scene. I just don’t see the benefit in negative statements like that which is why you haven’t seen anyone reply to that sort of stuff (from BBG). The only reason I replied is because I just don’t want this thread to turn into more drama. Promoting an event is alot more than just posting on SRK. That is just the bare minimum. Also I wouldn’t say the Eugene scene is ass. Shoryuken League is working extremely hard to build your scene but these things take time. I would have gone to the last event but my schedule isn’t the most flexible right now but I should be able to attend the next one since school is almost out!!! So again, no disrespect just trying to keep this from turning into something it’s not.

P.S. I’m down to chat about this further if you like just send me a PM

Why are u guys fighting over Capcom? I have a suggestion that might help with a better turnout, lower the price for smaller tournaments and maybe raise the price for a bigger one. There’s always a few of the same people who always take the top places, Sam Y, BBH, and that black guy(Here it comes); if I’m not either one of them, I wouldn’t want to spend 12$ on a small tourney to donate to them. Thats all I’m sayin.

This was never intended on being a flame war, I just don’t understand how grown individuals can’t seem to put past transgressions aside and resolve conflict. Unless someone fucked your wife, poked you in the eye, or killed your dog – this should be fixable.

Is it bad the first three people that popped into my mind were Kobe Bryant, The NCAA football player from Florida who poked the other guy in the eye, and Michael Vick?

I feel racist :frowning:
