sigh Guy’s elbow drop, was told that he can be jab’d out of it…not by Bison he can’t
how u deal with Cody slide??
cr.mk beats cody slide. cr.lk too, but only if you’re in range
st.mk, st.hk, ex-pc all gets stuffed. i think ex-scissors beats it, but i don’t do it cause it’s risky
Damn good oni i play offline. Check my utube u find one. I will personally give him ride on local 27th so i can get some oni mu
If you anticipate a slide well in advance you can land j.hp on it and win. Depends too much on a very good read though.
I still work on frame trap witg him. My pattern is not clear iguess. I gonna play him more an post vid. Tell me hat u think next post thx guys very uelpfor.
Okay, so what can Bison do to counter Yun’s jump forward/back medium kick? I just lost badly to the worst Yun player I have ever seen in my life, and all he did the whole game was jump back and forward medium kick, and occasionally throw out a random special. I felt like such a fool. It was infuriating, but I could not for the life of me find a way around it. Ugh.
Block high. I would just block high for all Yun’s in the air. Standing up and taking the dive kicks at a higher trajectory increases their frame disadvantage/reduces advantage and just minimizes their offense slightly. And if you do it routinely, it just eliminates the random j.MK’s coming out.
I don’t understand the Vega(Claw) matchup at all. It says it’s an easy matchup for Dictator so I must be doing something very wrong. It seems like Claw can just spam cr.jap/strong all day and there’s nothing I can do about it. It beats every single poke and frame trap I try, and it seems like I have to have incredible reactions/spacing to even land a scissor kick (it got beaten by cr.strong almost half the time). st.roundhouse just seems not work as an anti air in this matchup.
I try not to randomly jump in on charge characters but maybe that’s what I should do here? Granted I was playing against a very good and very smart Claw but I shouldn’t be having this hard of a time. I lost 4-5 in a FT5 and it seemed like my only damage came from gimmicks (ex psycho into ex psycho, empty DR into throw, etc). I wish I had a video but I wasn’t recording.
Hey KinetiK,
I don’t think I’ve ever met you before but I used to be a regular at Hasting’s Wednesday night fights (I quit attending about six months ago). Anywho, were you playing Adrian last night? He has a really good Claw and I used to play him on PSN all the time. Once you knock Claw down, he’s toast. You can neutral jump high kick and it will limit Vega’s wakeup options - I believe scarlet terror will wiff and he’ll be forced to either block or backflip. Also, on knockdown you can always use a jump-in HP and option select slide (it will destroy Vega players who like to backflip on wake-up). If Vega is wall dive happy you can jump back and Hell attack 'em or jump FP if you have good timing.
I actually think Vega has a slight advantage in the Bison vs Vega matchup. He controls the air and can practically jump in on Bison for free if he’s smart about it, and has a formidable ground game as well. The only time I would say that Bison gains the advantage is once you knock Vega down, as you can easily exploit his poor defensive options and back him into the corner. This match should be played really lame otherwise. Make him respect you by maintaining a charge at all times and pressuring him with scissors in order make him more cautious to move forward/throw pokes out there. Sounds incredibly simple, but I’m just looking at it from my own perspective as someone who also plays Vega. The most frustrating type of Bison player to fight in this matchup is one who is perfectly content to just hold down back and scissor shit on reaction. If I fight a Bison who tries to be more mobile and play a more active footsie game, I’m more confident that I can win with Vega’s superior pokes. So play super-lame.
My two cents.
randomly walk back, bison walk back speed is awesome, and Vega poke if he abuse it is actually very punishable by reaction, random dash back make you totally avoid his poke, and now you can do little focus, only difference between this match up and Bison Mirror is his air game is even better, you got to do is put him at corner and watch what he do, keep safe distance because his poke is Superior then yours.
Knock him down, just walk back and dash back sometime helps, I can even do dash back and slide to punish whiff cr.HP/cr.MK when they recover, those move can stuff up scissor (actually a lot of move can stuff up scissor if they have good hit box and good start up, BUT NOT AFTER you hit them with scissor and they block at RIGHT DISTANCE, I believe if you hit them with scissor you end up -1 frame for too close, but if distance is right is 0, and your 6f 3f move now kicks in and ready to pawn their stupid trigger finger who love push bottom)
watch out vega gimmic, cross over EX izuna and his crazy corner setup, if you get him in corner don’t do stupid stuff just play solid, if you don’t make mistake it should be good.
with out corner pressure, vega match up can be really tough, but is easy to get in once he finish his shenanigan footsie game and your scissor shenanigan have its TIME TO SHINE
Ugh, need a decent answer to boom followed by crossup lk besides block against Guile.
Bah I despise the fact he has a great go to AA that rarely trades added to an air throw.
Ok I am convinced now shoto cr.mk has greater reach than st.mk. That or the spacing to beat it is a single pixel
I don’t care what anyone says, Ryu is NOT a good match for Bison.
1 : All of his normals seem to stuff mine, and specials like knee press, can also be thrown which is extremely annoying.
2 : Patience is key, but one mistake in this match leads to like 300-450 damage from random shoryuken’s, Bison’s most solid punish deals about 250 dmg, So hes not taking that big of a risk seeing as I will have to punish two of his whiffed shoryus to equal the damage he deals with one that is successful. ( not to mention he can even fadc the failed ones and go for more pressure. )
I’ve taken the “turtle and be safe” approach to this match up along time ago, But its really difficult to keep my A game going for a long time and play the clock, its also hard to keep a life advantage with Bison’s bad AA’s. Spacing and dodging hadokens with Devils reverse and occasional jump works for a while, but Ryu can punish Devils reverse from full screen with an ultra If I go even an inch too close, super works the same way of course.
I’m probably alone in this but I feel Bison has a horrible air game against Ryu, his jumping strong stuffs everything I use in the air, no matter how well timed and that move also leads to big damage if he has any meter, super, or an ultra.
Any thoughts how I should improve upon this match up? I feel like this is my worst match up, save for maybe Guile and Chun.
I actually don’t think Ryu is a good matchup either, but eh. Maybe the west coast Bisons are tearing the Ryu’s a new one over there.
All of Bison’s air normals are pretty slow, so that is the main reason why they get stuffed a lot. j.lk is actually decently fast, but it’s not very good damage, and it doesn’t have good range.
I would say concentrate on your meter management a bit more. You can afford to be a little more aggressive when Ryu doesn’t have two bars and ultra, because the dp alone is not scary damage. Also, try not to get baited to waste your meter.
You shouldn’t be doing scissor kicks at the range where you can be thrown unless you are at frame advantage. If Ryu’s in your face, you just gotta eat the mixups. If you’re in the life lead you should be especially careful of late dp fadc ultra to catch crouch tech. In that case I would be willing to eat the throw and take a safer risk getting out of the followup safe-jump OS.
Bison’s air normals are all too vulnerable in addition to being slow, thats why they get stuffed a lot. You know for a character thats supposed to have good footsies all of his pokes are hideously vulnerable…
Also Honda, still a stupid as hell matchup, it did NOT become any better. Too easy for Honda to get and sit on a life lead especially since he can jump on Bison for free. HHS still does retarded chip as well.
Mmm… I think Bison has some leverage before Ryu gets meter. It’s kind of like the same thing vs Rufus. Things just change up pretty huge when meter comes into factor. A lot of other match ups don’t have this sort of element in them involving Bison. Like, you don’t need to worry about losing a lot of health in a constricted environment.
From the Bison vs Ryu matches I’ve seen Andy had against Valle, he does good. He doesn’t get dominated but there are always crucial plays by both players that just awe me. Like I can’t react and do those close s.HP anti airs against cross ups. That’s just boss and offline play only.
Is there any other advice people can give on the Gen match up? I’ve got two of the best ranked Gens on xbox live in top 8 with me at a local tournament and one of them sent me to losers yesterday. I’ll inevitably have to face them again if I make it far enough, and I’m lost! He’s so tricky.
Hmm Ken’s super, wondering if its like his srk where the recovery starts in the air making it damn near safe BS
