How so? I can’t think of any good mix-ups that he has when he’s by himself.
Hawkeye’s mix up game without assist is pretty much any throw into combo, left/right mix up with H trick into shot (fast but not as good as assist left/right), and if you somehow get in range for this a j.S or c.L high/low. Pretty much nothing really crazy and tick throw setups are probably the scariest thing mix up wise about Hawkeye anchor when it comes to getting people off block.
He’s a good anchor if you’re fighting like bigger, slower characters towards the back. I feel like there’s certain matchups as anchor where Hawkeye can do well in but he just doesn’t have the mix up to support being able to tear down a whole team with his XF3. Definitely solid anchor but nothing I would consider like top as an anchor.
…Arthur as an anchor is pretty legit.
Even if you don’t believe in his Chip Game. His Jumping S… give Arthur mind blowing mixups.
You do stuff like Jumping S> projectiles… so you have your own approach. You do stuff like Jumping S>Firebottle. The Fire bottle will whiff, and you go for a low/throw. Or you can just do another Overhead to fuck with their mind.
Dark Phoenix. For Obvious reasons.
Wesker. I don’t care how over rated people think he is. He gets RESULTS. Stop ignoring results. Until Wesker stops getting results people can’t say he’s a shit anchor.
Akuma. Tatsu doesn’t give a fuck. X factor’d tatsu gives negative fucks.
Dorm. Stalking flare. Pillars. Start prepping Power of the power. Call stalking flare. Drop them meteors. Mixups with teleport. Rinse repeat. Enjoy your chip damage.
Dante. This man has everything. And you’re gonna give him MORE POWER?! we also must remember Devil Trigger. Even without X factor if he has meter he can DT, fly and shoot stuff at you while he recovers health.
Firebrand. Xf3. Helper. Luminous body. Start guessing.
Magneto. I look at results.
It technically is the fastest projectile assist. Comes out 1 frame faster than EM Disruptor assist. And more durable than Plasma Beam/Unibeam/Gun Fire assist too.
Sir Arthur can chip a whole team with **one meter+XF3 **

Unfortunately, some characters can lame out Arthur’s XF because of their mobility options way up in the air. I don’t think his Level 3 hits above super-jump height. So, if anyone can super-jump, air-dash up, and activate Flight, Arthur can’t really hit them. Gold Armor crossbows also don’t seem to completely follow the opponent if they can get around them.
Also. gold armor run out = hard knock down and against character that have good OTG into ToD combo…

I would say Jill is probably quite a good anchor as well. She has great mixup potential (and no-one really knows how to fight her cause she’s so rare) and I’m pretty sure you could kill a whole team with XF3 Mad beast arrow kick chip. You can almost kill a whole character with one mad beast and no x-factor. She’s just a damn rare character with a very high execution level.
I would think C.Viper just becomes even more broken in x-factor 3, though I’ve never seen someone use her as anchor.

Firebrand most likely has some broken stuff being slept on with level 3 and luminous body for incoming characters, but for now he’s basically just a chipping anchor.
Its a hard choice really since most in xf lvl 3 can one combo kill but i’m thinking dr doom with all his tools or Phoenix Wright in turnabout.
Other notable beasts include Arthur, Skrull, Cap A, Akuma, Hawkeye, Storm
Ammy is a legit anchor in the game too also. She’s good whether you’ve burned XF or not. But she does get a great speed boost in XF3. Morrigan can be good if the other person has burned their XF. Doppleganger + XF3 = FU! But that is minimized if they still have their XF.
I kind of only see Strange and Hawkeye as really good anchors if they have tons of meter already.
Arthur is a conditional xf3 anchor.
The retarded hard knockdown he eats after kings armor really hurts him. It’s as bad Sol Badguy recovering from Dragon Install in the original Guilty Gear. You were guarunteed to die in GG from that and I’ve seen instances of Arthur paying the price for it as well.
Another thing that hurts his anchoring is I feel he must have the lead and/or the opponent must have burned their X Factor.
If They have it. They can use it to waste time on his xfactor and peg him when his armor breaks which, late in the game, again, with the opponent likely having meter and their own anchor, will likely ToD the guy.
His armor break should be like the game. It shoves him back and kills his momentum. That’s it.
I’m not completely sold on Strider anchoring. His results so far are mainly from having level 3 xfactor and going wild with Ouroboros. I think FlyingVe mentioned Strider xf2+ assist has more potential to be dangerous, but xf3+Uro is just so derp right now.
Felicia is nasty. Helper + speed boost.
Chris can anchor. But it’s also situational. He has several bad matchups. But his many tools and great damage boost can chip out people real damn fast.
Hawkeye (arrow net arrow loops) Taskmaster (easier damage, more speed) Spencer (fear of arm, hits like a truck) are decent anchors due to versatility.
Morrigan with xf3 and Her threesome hyper spamming fireballs and chock full of meter. Queen of Time Outs.
Strange should never, ever be anchor.

Its hard to pick number 1 out of the list all characters are top anchors because they dont just hold down the fort they are capable and proven of pulling off reverse ocvs
Strange should only be anchor if it happens to fall out that way. He’s like a bad Arthur anchor and Arthur anchor has problems too.
The scare factor Dr.Strange brings in the second spot (with a 3rd character providing a strong assist for him is too good to put him in the 3rd spot. He’s just not a scary character without an assist since his mix up is literally almost non existent without an assist to do teleport cross ups and buy time for the graces. He’s basically another Storm in the second spot where once your team gets 2 meters the opponent can’t do anything that they can’t block during for a long period of time or they will get blown up.

Dorm Akuma Wesker Dante Magneto Skrull Hawkeye Ammy Strider Vergil
There are other good anchors but I think there is a really big drop after that group (including Phoenix; the new XFC TAC trick makes her way too much of a gamble to be worth banking on).
Hulk and Thor deserve a mention their x factor damage is stupid
