i’ve never been to a vegas evo before. do you guys actually spend much time in the hotels? if not, it doesn’t really make sense to spend more money. but if there’s not much of a price difference, i’m down for the rio.
it’s almost double the price.
and i’m all for saving money, but i vote for rio b/c we went the cheeper route the last 2 years, and i think our experience was hampered by it. it might sound silly right now, but having to walk across those big dirty parking lots in near 100 degree heat to get back and forth from the venue makes a big difference. especially when you’re running on 2 hours of sleep and just want to catch some quick shut eye before the next event.
also, people tend to get split up, and it’s much easier to regroup if you’re in the same building.
but that’s my opinion. i’m all for democratic decision making.

edit: so yeah, it’s less about the quality of the room itself than the location. but i’m not against the potential fun of minor hardship, either.
i stayed at the salty suite last evo and i had a fucking blast. voting rio.

it was awesome last year. i was getting full nights rest, plus bought drinks on the way/from evo everytime on the streets. hahaha.
i guess the rooms themselves are about twice as big too, so maybe a better choice if you are going to have 4+ people per room.
