Would you guys be supportive of me if I decided to teach a decal on street fighter?
i can come roflstomp noobs if thats what you want
Doooooo it
Some guys did this in 2003, it was fun.
Did it get as much attention as that Starcraft decal?
Also, what if Sirlin trolls this decal
i wanna teach a sf class. but unfortunately after two sessions, all my students will realize i’m full of shit and tar and feather my ass.
i wish i had the tech skillz to create a very in depth interactive sf tutorial to train for very specific situations.
“walk up to and hover just outside of your ryu’s optimal footsie range.”
SUCCESS!
“use the correct anti-air depending on distance of the jump-in.”
SUCCESS!
“throw 10 safe fireballs vs gouken.”
SUCCESS!
“throw two safe fireballs, then a risky fireball, then two more safe fireballs, then bait and punish.”
SUCCESS!
Peter should teach the SF decal. Everyone would fail.
Also, Sam. You’re on to something with that tutorial idea.
Peter pro tutor. Dash grab ultra.
Lick my nuts y’all
I’d go to a street fighter decal a few times
well, it really depends on what the direction of the decal is, but if you want to learn to get better, you really need to learn the foundations.
- game engine (movement, character specifics, controls)
- character mechanics (normals, throws, specials, supers, ultras, character states - dizzy, juggle, throwable, etc)
- combo mechanics (combos, hitboxes, frame-data, meaties, reversals, priority, invincibility, links, etc)
- footsies (spacing, punishes, baits, mindgames - fireballs are in this section)
- game styles (rushdown, turtle, pros and cons)
- overall game control (limiting options, complex setups, momentum)
the thing about SF is that most scrubs never get out of learning #1, #2, and little bit of #3. however, only information that really translates BETWEEN games is 3-6. that’s why it’s harder for new fools to pick up a game and why it’s harder to get better when so many versions of the game comes out so often. (ugh AE coming out in a few days)
i really wanted to do some in-depth training sessions and game-breakdowns. i don’t know if you guys know who day9 is, but he’s a big figure in starcraft2 scene who breaks down EVERYTHING for analysis, and i really wish i had the time/resources to do it.
on a side note, i quit my current job so maybe if someone wants to help, we can. on a related note, i have two jobs lined up so maybe not.
You forgot to add “matchups.” Not about tier lists, but specifics between characters. This would probably fit best in “footsies.” Ooh and Option Selects (in combo mechanics?).
God, do I have to do everything? Heh.
You should become a SF Prof now LB. I think that is a sound career move. I’d quit my job to be a TA/GSI.
those are very specific to the game/edition so i didn’t include them. some of them comes through in those general discussions that is outlined anyways.
but yeah, i really wouldn’t mind teaching a class but no video/editing skills here.
when’s the next session? let’s playyyy
Super’s grab range is changed to be the same as LP Mexican Typhoon.
tony hawk gonna be supering you from half screen now and shit
i am going down to LA on 23rd, so if anyone wants to play this weekend, feel free to come. we can caravan to SVGL because they’ll most likely have AE by then.
otherwise next session will be january 8th weekend or the week after that.
wait, THIS weekend? already? shit…
i fly back to socal this sunday, how about friday (afternoon/evening) or saturday? only if they really are getting AE this soon…
Driving up tomorrow. Down for games this weekend.
Daniel
wowowoow. let’s get some shit going this weekend then yah? my place sat or sun?
Saturday works better for me.
I can give rides from SF if needed.
Daniel
