"Beg For Your Life You Inferior Race" Super Skrull thread 2.0

So I started playing him last night, and he is a lot of fun, does pretty darn decent damage. Only thing I gotta ask is how do y’all combo after the command grab? Shit looks so easy when I saw people do it in all these vids, but I found the timing is relatively tricky and was unable to connect a full combo off a single one the whole night. Any and all tips welcome as always.

jump airdash then j.2H dash S

dash s, of course, I went for dash magic series.

or dash s.:l:, s.:s:

I usually do Dash, St. :m:, cr. :m:, :s:. Hit confirms for me easier.

shoutouts to DjHuoshen holding it down at NEC!

Man, everyone was dropping combos today, other than that, DjHuoshen was looking scary.

If only he didn’t miss that level 3…

Good try though. I usually skip the tender and go straight to level 3 as soon as I land. I’m trying to head to SCR next week and try to get Skrull on top 8 for West Coast as well.

he shoulda mashed L harder lol

I did horribly at NEC. 1st match was Rayray, but lets not talk about that and the next was some captain america player. I guess i just gave up. But i will still try to make a combo video. I like my skrull team but i think i might try something else because Skrull Dorm and Sent is tough to work with for me having Sent last.

To be fair Ray Ray is really strong in the Skrull match up. One of his buddies plays a really solid Skrull, so he’s got the match up experience, so no noob gimmicks would have worked on him at all.

I beat him in Losers Top 16 only because for that set my execution was mind blowing-ly on point.

What’s wrong w/ Skrull/Dorm/Sent? I was actually thinking about going back to playing that team again except w/ Dorm on point, not really feeling Vergil/Skrull too much. I like playing Skrull/Sent w/ a char on point that has a balance between rushdown/keepaway like Mags, Storm, Dorm, Doom, Trish, etc, idk Verg is just eh for me.

Good shit DJ Huoshen, gman, and everyone else who repped the Skrull Empire at NEC, I’ll try and make next NEC! I don’t think I’ll be deployed during next one.

BTW, don’t think I’ll be able to make it to SCR, but I’ll be able to make it to the next NCR.

THe problem with rayray was that i blew my xfactor in the beginning accidentally. It was obviously a mistake on my part, and after that it was over. I guess nerves got to me and in the losers match i just wasn’t confident any more.

My problem with this team is Sentinal being last. He has low health and by the time he comes out the opponent might have xf lvl3 and im dead in a combo. It’s a risk i dont want anymore even though his Assist is a great tool for my skrull style. But i have been thinking Skrull, Wesker, Doom. But Skrull Dorm Sent, is always a comfort team…my first true love :’( lol

That’s a pretty fun team too, Skrull/Wesker/Doom, last Skrull team I played in mvc3. I’m trying to do a new Skrull team but I may just end up back at (Storm or Dorm)/Skrull/Doom.

It’s a good team because they all have strong Xfactor lvl 2 and 3, and there are countless resets for Doom/Skrull to play around with.

I’m wanting to pick up Skrull, but after not playing MvC3 for months it’s like starting the whole game over again. Right now I’, running Hulk, Skrull, Ryu since I’m comfortable with Hulk and Ryu. Skull is just kind of there, thus far to use Orbital Grudge assist and die. I’ve managed to land a few nice elastic slam grabs but I really have no idea how I should be building his offense. A lot of his specials seem unsafe as ways of getting into slam range. And actually landing the slam is harder than I anticipated.

How should I be putting together my approach?

My very vague and general advice would be thus: play it safer. Elastic Slam is one of the unsafest moves in Kl’rt’s arsenal if dealing with mobile opponents, so great care needs to be taken with choosing moments to throw it out. Think about the following as a starting point if you want to integrate the move into your game effectively, as it is still very scary in the right hands.
[]Cover all grabs with appropriate assists when possible (In your case, for example, :h: slam paired with Ryu’s Hadoken/Tastu assist would cover both the air and ground nicely at half screen distance).
[
]Learn strong reset options that leave your opponents in prime positions for high probability grabbing. (Opponent teching back after finishing a combo with Inferno? Dash and :h: slam!)
[]Use pressure to train your opponent into staying still or chicken guarding (eg. c.:l:,:l: slam up close; :m: slam if you anticipate blocking half screen, :h: if you anticipate chicken guarding/air dashes half screen).
[
]Recognise situations and matchups where simple guessing is, in fact, safe. (eg. incoming characters with no air mobility)

Cover all grabs with appropriate assists when possible.
I’ll use this space to remind you that Skrull has a lot of other strong tools that can lead into high damage or dead characters, so there’s no reason to solely rely on Elastic Slam, as strong as it can be. Meteor Smash (covered by slow projectile assists or leading into DHCs), Rolling Hook, standing :h:, air dash followed by air :d::h: or air :s:, Orbital Grudge/Fatal Buster and standing :m: (vs. armoured attacks) are all ways of mounting and offense on your opponent, and is far from a complete list of what Kl’rt can do. Use them!

Interesting. I’ll just have to learn to play him safer. sometimes when I did Down H the opponent would dash under and I’d pop up right back into their waiting combo. At some point Ryu will likely be replaced by someone. I was wanting to play Nova but maybe I should put Doom there with Beam assist. I also have to work on simply not sucking at this game.

Or Rocks or Hidden Missiles. Missiles on that team sounds pretty evil.
