The wesker otg setup will work out of the corner, BUT…you can’t re-launch mid-screen after the inferno, the inferno will push them too high and far back in the air. I like your combo, I just use wesker OTG for more meter build. Orbital grudge (where skrull spins his arms in a circle) to fatal buster (D, B+H on the follow up) can set up some devestating combos, you can also connect meteor smash after the fatal buster.
Also, meteor smash XFC is really useful against projectile and assist spammers, when you meteor smash, you can x-factor and re-launch to get a serious punish
Interesting that you can (re?) launch after a meteor smash if you X-Factor. I feel really dumb for not knowing that, I mean, does it combo, could I do the following?
Elastic Grab >> Ground Dash >> Jump >> Down H >> Ground Dash >> S (launch) >> MMHS >> Meteor Smash >> X-Factor >> S (launch) >> MMHS >> Meteor Smash >> Inferno
I find that orbital grudge is an attack I never use, there are other options that deal more damage.
Just throwing out a tip, because this forum seems dead. You can zone with tron fire or haggar lariat, and even if it doesn’t hit, you can keep your spacing and throw out a command grab, follow up with a combo of course. Spam tron fire, and when your close and your not keeping your spacing, follow up with Down H (air) or round magic series. Skrul + Tron Fire/Lariat
So I made a pretty basic video showing skrull resets and a few combos. The resets are only for people who forward tech in the air since aer0blue pretty much covered resets for neutral and back.
Really nice stuff, loving the Hulk/Skrull shit with stone smite btw. Was wondering because you also play Tron, and cool tricks you know of with Skrull and Tron, any specific cool ways you can combo or pressure with Tron fire?
Yes, meteor smash >> xfc >> re-launch will work, however, with elastic slam the combo will be cut short after the x factor and you will only be allowed 1-2 hits, so you must cancel to inferno early, I just sat in training room when i saw your reply so i tested meteor smash more and you can do.
c.m >> c.h >> S >> (launch) >> MMHS >> Meteor Smash >> X-Factor >> S (launch) >> MMHS >> Meteor Smash >> Inferno for 1,048,400 dmg. which was performed on haggar, so anybody with less health than haggar should die. Which is a serious ass combo when you need to kill someone off
with elastic slam, after the meteor smash xfc, they recover too quick after the re-launch, you only get a m or h out.
The orbital grudge is used more for the fatal buster, I generally use the L orbital grudge because it is the best option due to speed and recovery not as terrible as the other m and h version. and the fatal buster can set up some decent combos.
Well I usually use tron to cover myself after air down heavy, If tron fire hits then I get a free combo. Only problem is Tron fire scales the combo pretty badly. Another thing I sometimes do is hit Light twice and call tron at the same time that way I can’t get pushblocked and then I go for grabs or you just go for meteor smash while tron fire is out and attempt to cross up with it. For me, tron is there to get my opponent accustomed to blocking more than usual, then just go for grabs.
This, this is genius, it works, and I forget about it sometimes, I need to do it more. I actually like getting in their face in the corner with tron, get them to block, and go for a non-command grab sometimes.
Yea, once they start blocking all the time you’re pretty much in control of the match. Same thing works for hulk and his command grabs. Only thing about my team that really bothers me is having Tron as an anchor, by herself shes not very good but with assists shes godly. I play skrull on point but after he kills the first character I try to get him to the anchor spot, much better anchor IMO
pros-
Insane damage potential, even at a noob level his easy combos do great damage.
He builds great meter.
His lvl 3/meteor smash will catch projectile spammers constantly.
His command grab is probably the best in the game (goes through projectiles, has a ton of sets ups, can even beat some ultras).
Has a ton of resets for big damage.
cons-
assits are sub-par.
can have some trouble getting in.
relies heavily on meter.
can’t fly?
Idk, what else am I missing here. He’s a solid character though, you can play some real mind games with Skrull and piss off your opponent. Plus he’s got srs swag.
wow, i did not know elastic slam can grab through projectiles. thats good to know thanks. Your pro and con list is pretty accurate i’d say. he has a big problem getting in due to short limbs and you find yourself taking more risks than you should… you want to use s.l…it’s his best normal. it hits low and has better range than anything else besides c.h. C.H is really slow though.
Tenderizer assist gdlk. It’s quick, and can hold an opponent for great set-ups in combos. It is amazing how much damage he inflicts for how little work he needs to be played. As an anchor in lvl 3 xf he’s just there to punish and hold out for the win.
I’ve got trouble against Skrull and I don’t know why. I always felt that he was higher in tier discussion as opposed to what most people consider his placement.
My team’s Wesker with the OTG assist, Iron Man with his beam assist, and Akuma with his tatsu assist in that order; if anyone can give me a rundown on what each of my characters give Skrull the most trouble with. I honestly don’t know what the fuck it is I have most trouble with, I go with the rushdown and zoning approach yet I still get my shit kicked in; Vidness can attest to this beat me a clean 3 - 0 and on all occasions I couldn’t get through his Skrull, even had Wesker and Akuma left against his X-Factor-less Skrull and he still got me. Mind you the lag was ass and I’m sure he can agree.
If anyone can do me the favor of stepping up my Skrull match-up that would be greatly appreciated. Good looks!
Kind of slow around here, ran into something sort of interesting, would love to hear thoughts on this…
**If you are in the corner and do a forward non-command grab, you can charge crouching down heavy and it combos, you can continue the combo **with the help of an assist, Tron Fire works, Disruptor works, seems like a lot of stuff does, but the timing varies.
Seems gimmicky, but you can get some more damage (about 100k or so) if you add the charged crouching heavy and the assist before you do his corner non-command grab bnb. Also means you don’t need a skrull smash to continue the corner grab combo like you normally would, which means you can save your ground bounce, seems great, but damage scaling does eventually kick in.
Experiment with it if you want and let us know what works and what doesn’t along with if it’s worth looking into.
On a some what related note, I’m beginning to realize Skrull is an absolute monster in the corner, a lot of his best resets (including his non-command air grab resets) are in the corner, and his skrull smash re launch combos are very easy to do in the corner as well) Not to mention, being able to follow up his level 3 in the corner, and now this charging crouching heavy trick with assist, you really see what Skrull can do when he has some corner pressure on you.
I’ve been meaning to get a video up of some Skrull tricks, college has really been keeping me busy, but I’ll really will get to it eventually.
Nice find, wonder if it works w/ team nWo, probably experiment w/ it tonight.
Edit: You can corner grab, stone smite, isedelica loop to the other corner and inferno dhc. Hit 3rd j.s as quick as possible or they will air tech out. Also, you can opt the 3rd j.s for another air grab lol Just to be safe you can do corner grab, stone smite, S, j.S, ad j. d+H, dash S, j.S, ad j.d+H, inferno dhc. With Sent plasma storm it did 700 k.
Ah Skrull…how we love thee! With Wesker, you can counter his air moves and his first super. Repulsor blast keeps IM safe, and Akumas tatsu is hard for Skrull to hit cleanly from the air. Once you have Skrull on the ground, he tends to lose that battle with his crappy hitboxes on his normals. Hopefully this will help you in a future match against me!
